For the guys that remember 96, who did you favor in the match between Holyfield and Tyson? I know Holyfield was the underdog by everyone.

I thought Tyson would win. My dad thought Holyfield would win. Yeah, that sucked.

Tyson. At point in time, not as much was known that Holyfield had always been a potential "thorn in Mike's side" going back to amateur days. Holyfield just had a mental edge on Tyson going into the fight.

Holyfield was seen as damaged goods at the time had struggled with fighters and thought to be on the slide.had that heart trouble thing. people were worried that holy was going to be badly hurt. When I watched the first fight i couldn't believe what I was seeing.Holy was brilliant.

Hoped for Holy, but Mike was the favorite in my mind. I remember the talk about Holy risking his health and how the fight really shouldn't have been made. It's funny how different things seem in hindsight.

Tyson, but I didn't follow boxing too closely until a few years later.

I thought Tyson would win. Holyfield had seemingly gone too far downhill by this point. Most people thought a quick Tyson knockout was inevitable. That said, I do remember saying that I thought Holyfield might be tougher for Tyson than people think. That he's not someone who's ever just rolled over quickly.

The rematch for me was a pick-em fight. Would Tyson now be more motivated and better prepared for Holyfield? Would Holyfield be able to reach the heights he had in the first fight? I certainly didn't think Tyson would crack up like he did.

The fights showed how appearances were deceiving. Tyson paid the price for taking very easy fights but then again he had to gradually move his competition up given that he was out of boxing for almost 4 years. Maybe in hindsight he should have taken the Lewis fight instead but then again he just went for more money and thought just like the general public that Holyfield would be an easy fight.

    I thought Tyson would win.

Holyfield had looked really bad against Bobby Czyz and in the third Bowe fight. Tyson didn't look prime leading in, but Holyfield loosed worse.
