Who do non-Brits consider to be the best UK fighter ever?

    Because you say so?

I'm sorry, but people are too sentimental about the good old days with Benn and Eubank. An experienced but past his best version of Eubank got dominated by a very green Calzaghe, not even 25% of the fighter he is today

It's not unreasonable to think this version of Joe beats any Eubank

Sorry but the 1910's is just too long ago to be considered in reckoning 'ATG's' - boxing was virtually a different sport than it is now.

I don't know about Michael schooling Joe, and this is obviously something we will never know, but man, if ever there was a fighter who didn't get the respect he earned, Michael Watson is the one. Damn shame.

Yes. Born in London, and if Lennox wishes to be called British, which he does, then that must be respected. Spending a few years living in Canada does not make you Canadian.

The same goes when considering the likes of Johnson an ATG heavy - you cant catch a punch like they did back then when four or five come after it; who knows if these types of guys would have been successful in modern boxing (post-war) but for sure they wouldn't with the styles they DID use, which is pretty much all you can judge them on.

From the little I've seen, Jimmy Wilde could compete with todays Jr Flyweights, no problem at all

    He deserves to be considered

It's funny that you say this, because as far as I am aware, those guys said themselves that Calzaghe would be up there with them, had he been around in their day.

Well, not necarsarily; if I wanted to be considered a Martian it wouldn't make it so.

Jamaican parentage, grew up in Canada, won Gold for Canada at the Olympics, now chooses to live in Miami...:huh

Either way, LL is certainly #1 if thats your opinion. As good a fighter as Clazaghe is, LL is a legit top 5/10 ATG heavy.

This is very untrue. See my signature, and in particular, Floyd's words. If the man who is considered the P4P king can give Joe his props, surely this holds some weight? There are MANY Americans who have respect for British fighters, believe me. Not only the public/boxing fans, but some of the most incredible champions.

By the way, if it wasn't for Britain, there wouldn't even be any boxing. Remember that, and please, leave your ego by the door on your way out.

Let's cut the crap. If you were to ask Lennox which country he proudly represents, which country would that be?

Early in Lewis' pro career he saw it would be of financial benefit to be a British prospect rather than a Canadian one - he left London as a young child and now chooses still not to live in Britain.
