What's this bull**** about? He was born in London, he chose to represent Britain, so in boxing terms he is a British fighter

Face it, my friend, you are afraid of giving Britain any credit whatsoever because it's a threat to your oversized American ego. If that isn't cutting the crap, I don't know what is.

Again, if it wasn't for Britain, there would be no boxing.

You know the worst thing about British boxing? The fans. Not all of them, but a decent proportion of them (most of the Hatton soccer-hooligan types especially) are just so ****ing irritating:patsch You can't make any comment about British fighters (or Canadian ones apparently :D ) without this overly defensive expletive laden "WHATS THIS BULL****".

As a Brit I'm not allowed to vote but I thought I'd throw the name John Conteh into the mix as a possibility to consider.

im speaking for the average fan... not hard core fan..

the average boxing fan doesnt even know who joe calzaghe is...

from your last comment im assuming your implying the british invented boxing..... which is a form of fighting with your hands... which is something thats been happening since the begining of time ... id rather thank god for giving humans fists before i think the brits for "starting" boxing...

if they didnt start it someone would have later .. its not like they invented fighting

So you represent South Africa now, like Lewis represents Canada, or Mars, or Jamaica. I get you.

True LL is more British than Bute is Canadian or Michalczewski is German.

Did that offend you? Bull****? Bless your little cotton socks...

He chose to represent Britain, he is seen in the boxing world as British as you well know

Also, if you are going to start tarring people you've never met with the soccer hooligans stereotype, you should probably expect a few expletives. Besides, it doesn't look like you are adverse to using them yourself...

What rules are we going by? Last time I looked it was John Chambers', as endorsed by the ninth Marquess of Queensberry. Breaking boxing down to simply throwing your fists at another man is disrespecting boxing itself.

PS: The average guitar player doesn't know who Allan Holdsworth is. If you look into it you'd find he is the best on the planet. Does he get the respect he deserves? Nope. What the general public or "average" fan knows doesn't actually mean very much at all. The best fighters, just like the best musicians or artists, often exist largely outside of the public eye. Prime example: most of the general public don't know who Floyd Mayweather is. Another example: Vincent Van Gogh sold only two paintings in his entire life, one of those being to his own brother. Vincent died in poverty. Holdsworth, to this day, struggles to pay his bills.

I regard Bugner as being the best all-time British heavyweight outside of Lennox Lewis. Easily. I have always been surprised by the disrespect the British showed Bugner.
