There are a few names that I would like to see in the mix with Choi, however: I just finished watching Friday Fight Night from the US, that I had on my Sky+ and the main event, Locke v Escalante, was a belter with Escalante winning in a convincing UD, but unfortunately did not record a stoppage, even though he had his man down a couple of times and on one occasion he was saved by the bell. Escalante, fought at Featherweight (normally he fights at Super Bantam) so I figured that his explosive and all action style would be a great match for Choi. Choi v Escalante would be a war. But, Escalante has been KO'd before and for me, Choi wins this toe-to-toe, as he has not only power but a granite chin. Who would you like to see the Mongolian Warrior fight?
Well he's only just come back from a long lay off but then we have fact he's not got much time to mess around. Spencer's got the problem does he through him straight into a world title shot or get him a fight with a top 10 ranked fighter. It's difficult because Spencer won't want to put him in and he loses and Choi then fades away so he has to be smart. I think he has to go for a ranking fight to get himself in position. I think go down either IBF or WBO route. He needs a shot in the next year and i hope he gets it. At the moment i hope Spencer can get him on the September show and keep him active and i hope this fight will be a step up maybe someone in the top 40 in the world.
Another reason why I favour Escalante is that it wouldnt go to points, hence eliminating the possibility of Choi getting robbed. Escalante is a bit on the chinny side but is all action and Choi would look great mixing it with him. It would certainly put him right in the frame for bigger fights. Maybe, one more tune up fight, then get some good names. Those Irish fights would be good too Mossey. Definitely.
I agree. I also think that Choi, due to his long layoff would benefit from fighting a non champion of the division aswell right now, assuming they're top ten material of course.
he should get him in agaisnt guys in the IBF rankings. there enforce mandatorys stricter than anyone else and seem to rank fighters based on results. if choi beet two top 15 guys he would get an eliminator within a year.
I would love to see Choi spoil the hype shoow of one o the Hyland brothers and after that easy warm up fight he could fight someone like Appleby or Simpson.
i think simpson would be a great fighter ,rob is right aboutthe mandtory .i see one of the hylands one the ibf international a fight for that owuld be good and certainly get him in the top 15 or maybe he could make a defence of his WBU belt aswell .
I havent seen Santiago or Piriyapinyo, but looking at their records suggest that they are top quality opposition. Whoever it is next, I would love to see someone that is a pressure fighter and isnt afraid of mixing it up.
Any world rated opponent would be good. It's not as if he has time to waste. He'd need somebody similarly avoided to get a match I'd think. Choi wouldn't disgrace himself against anybody, he's that kind of tough guy. I mean yeah he can get outskilled and outmoved but anybody is going to have a rough ride against him.
Santiago drew with Luevano and imo is a decent fighter and well thought of out in Puerto Rico. Tall decent punching featherweight. :bbb
