I hope Roy Jones Jr. wins so that he can retire and solidify his status as a Top ATG with a win against another HOF fighter in J.Calzaghe :)

Personally I disapprove of Calzaghe because he's arrogant beyond belief and completely full of ****. And because he's taking an easy fight against Roy Jones (a guy i think very highly of and don't want to see get beat up or embarrassed or generally taken advantage of at this point in his career). And because it doesn't look like he is going to take a fight against a more dangerous "legitament" opponent.

The arrogant thing I can let slide. After all he's a fighter. The not taking on real challenges thing I could forgive if he a) retires right now or b) fights one of his top two challengers after the Jones fight.

But frankly if he embarrasses a legend lik RRJ I'll always have a bitter taste in my mouth with this guy cause really there is no reason for him to take this fight other then greed. Its kinda like when DLH fought Chavez a second time but worse.

yes it is....but joe has only taken these options because neither jones or hopkins would have have taken his "reign from wales" seriously 8 or so years ago when it mattered. rightly so too.

that isn't their fault because they were not only the best middle and light-heavies in the world at that time (as well as the P4P fighters of the last 10-15 years...), but they were the guys you needed to fight to be recognised at the top of the tree.

oscar and tito might have been out of their weight class to fight a guy like hopkins - but hopkins got those fights because he was the best fighter in his division who fought and was recognised on the world stage.

calzaghe was the best fighter in a poor division who never wanted or tried to become anything more than that.

by the way i'm not american. i'm just a realist.

So why are you making excuses for a money grubbing *****? Is he paying your rent or something?

****ing next fighter to say the phrase "if it don't make dollars it don't make sense" should be band from boxing.

I would really like Roy to win and put a seal on his complete resume already.

But he tends to lay on the ropes a lot now, which is exactly what Calzaghe needs. If he could only stay in the middle of the ring and not gas out just maybe he can grab the win.

Now days he just lays there to take the shots, which is perfect for Calzaghe to unload of flurry of slaps. Roy needs to be very intelligent for this one.

look at the tapes of roy jones.

he always sat and took shots on the ropes before unloading.

it's not the same jones unfortunately, but then again that's why calzaghe is fighting him...

there's no way in hell calzaghe and warren would take on a prime jones.

I'm not making excuses I was pulling for this fight long before all this Pavlik mess. But you have to understand the buisness ..And unfortunatly this is what happens ..

But these 2 are at the end of their careers i'm not hating on them for wanting to cash out before they hang them up ..I'm not going to overlook what either man has done because today's boxing fan is crying foul for not getting their way ..And lets not forget how selective people can be ..I love it how all of a sudden there money grubbing whores but before when they obliged their fans this was never the case .I have never heard this much hate for Joe before his fighst with Hopkins ..If people said something about his slaps they referred to the lacy fight but now since he won't fight the new hype he' a bum ,a money grubing ***** ,a coward blah blah blah ..If and when Pavlik gets beat they will turn on him just the same .
