I think Lennox Lewis was actually more like 6'4 or 6'4 1/2. There seems to have been considerable height exaggeration in the 1990s. In the Olympics Lewis was listed as 6'4 and early in his career up until 1993 his height was listed as 6'4 1/2 with an 82 inch reach. I think they just rounded up because 6'5 sounds more impressive.

Joe has the foot speed hand speed and better head movement. While Rocky may or may not hit harder he comes up short in all those other departments.

Not everybody can be a lineal champion.

If that is the case, then you look at wins over currently rankled contenders, and perhaps even take the Whetabix Boxing Council belt into account!

There is quite a big gulf between a guy who did not beat the lineal champion, and a guy who did not beat anybody ranked in the top ten!

Head movement is just one aspect of defense. Marciano moved his head, but he was better than Frazier at ducking, weaving, and moving his torso in unorthodox angles making him difficult to hit cleanly in his Crouch. I think marcianos defense at times was more unpredictable than Frazier’s same motions...although both fighters are very similar.

Frazier was definitely faster, yes but Marciano negates it by being physically stronger and more importantly possessing big power in both hands. Frazier’s left hook was incredible, but his right wasn’t a knockout punch at all. Tough to win a toe to toe slugfest against a machine with two fisted knockout power.

Frazier might be the best matchup of all time against any technical boxer....I favor him over Holmes.....but against sluggers who possess two fisted power, strength, durability, and stamina like Marciano? A much tougher matchup.

Marciano never beat anyone as good as Frazier, but Frazier never beat a puncher anywhere near a Marciano.

Would be an absolute war that’s for sure

Then why could he not win an alphabet title, in an era where John Ruiz was what you were up against at world level?

    Or even win the eliminators?

this trash is based on your imagination. You Have absolutely no proof to say that was stronger than joe frazier. In fact these both men were built equal with the difference of joe being 20 pounds bigger.so if anything joe was stronger

Because he had the bad luck to face lewis, the bad stylistical match with byrd and ike was debatable who won. So his fight with ruiz SHOWED AND PROVED that he had bad luck because he did not only beat a future alphabet champ but destroyed him. He would not have any problem with the small cruiser rocky

Also Ruiz was clearly showed favoritism by the WBA, as was Evander Holyfield. While Lewis was the true linear champion, Ruiz and Holyfield had their trilogy which was hardly Ali-Frazier, or Ali- Norton. Ruiz also got a gift against Golota, and Tua's career was sidetracked because his manager, Kevin Barry I believe his name was, was taken to court by Tua and sued for embezzlement for approximately 20 million dollars.

    It would be for sure.
I know Joe had alot of Respect for Rocky. If I remember correctly when I trained there Rocky was the only other fighter besides Joe who had a huge mural on the wall.

I'd be extremely confident that Tyson, Liston and Foreman would get the job done and Lennox and his big uppercut should turn the trick as well. Obviously the usually gang of big bangers would be in with a shot as they often were with anyone.

Around his own weight i'd only give Dempsey some sort of chance in what would be a war.

Yeah I just wanna say Frazier is an incredible fighter...I watched his performance vs Ellis, he was an assassin. No one worked the body like that, his left hook was on a rampage...he might have the best one of all time

He looked So fast and sharp that night...it’s amazing how much Frazier lost it after 71...even his body against Ellis so much better than when he fought Foreman three years later

Yea I think that style just burned him out. Joe worked his butt off in the gym but I just think that give all style took its toll. He put so much into Ali 1 that it had physical ramifications for a while after.
