You have to consider when these fights would take place. What era? 15 rounds? 12 rounds? The mentality was different back in the day. They would let a champion go out on his sheild and they wernt as jumpy about blood. Marciano may have lost of couple of fights if they took place under modern rules. His nose was hanging off against Charles. People get nervous now. He didn't care about pain though. That is something everyone can agree on. To knock him out though it's gonna take the bigger explosive guys, Tyson, Liston, Lewis maybe Joe Louis.
If you look through all of history every pit bull fighter like Frazier burned out pretty quickly. It takes so much. Dempsey, Rocky, Armstrong, Tyson as well as Joe.
Marciano said he was hurt more by Moore's shot, which surprised me. Those that stop Rocky: Foreman Liston Lewis Joshua Tyson Ali Dempsey Louis Wlad Vitali Holmes Those that have a chance of doing so: Langford Wilder Ftzsimmons Tua
This is a bit of a silly thread. Marciano was decked in his own time by small men who weren't considered monster punchers, and in addition was prone to bad cutting. It's perfectly conceivable to imagine him getting stopped by a whole ton of guys who just outgun him physically. Far more intriguing, as someone already mentioned, is to imagine which 190lbs and under fighters have the ability to stop him, as P4P Rock's toughness and power starts to become a factor. I find it hard to come up with any names that I'd definitely pick over him.
I don't see the great similarity really. Frazier tended to be very predictable in his rhythms and motions. His up and down bobbing (I won't say weaving, as Frazier didn't do much of it) was tricky for opponents due to the frequency with which he did it, coupled with his constant forward pressure and rampageous attacks, but if you could read him you could find openings to catch him clean. Rocky was a lot slower, but like you said his head and upper body movement were more varied and unpredictable, employing a sort of rolling sway to take him off the centre line, and often using the momentum of that sway to launch powerful attacks from either side. Frazier did that a bit, but you almost always knew what side the attack was coming from: the left. Marciano was also more adept at fighting from an extended crouch, which is something that Frazier almost never did. Every time Frazier ducked you'd know he'd pop up again straight after. Although they were both short, come forward bangers, I think their overall styles weren't that similar beyond the more superficial elements. Marciano to my mind shares more similarities with Dempsey than Frazier, while Frazier shares more similarities with Tua (though that's a bit of a stretch). I think Frazier's right to the body gets underrated. He was primarily a one fisted puncher, though.
Under 200lbs fighters that beat him or have a chance of doing so are very ,very few.imo Dempsey & Langford. Others with a shout prime Charles,Walcott, and Holyfield,Tunney?
