I don't remember many scoring it for Hopkins. I'm pretty sure that majority had it for Calzaghe.

Well, Adalaide Byrd is certainly talented to see fights differently than everybody else.

I concur; A lot of the punches JC landed on Hops were so quick that they were missed by both fans and judges alike in the live viewing of the fight. I was astonished by the punishment, particularly to the head, Hops received on 2nd and 3rd viewing. It was a good win against a master who was gifted and savvy/slick enough to drag out his prime.

Can Rodriguez really be classed as a tune up when he was the only person Ward fought in the almost three years between his victory over Dawson and victory over Smith?

A tune up, generally, is a fight to keep busy and to stay fit either to remain in fighting shape when there's nothing else to do and no big names to fight or in preparation for a bigger fight against an established name, but when Ward fought Rodriguez in November 2013 it had been over a year since his previous fight against Dawson in September 2012 and it would be over a year-and-a-half until his next fight against Smith in 2015. He was neither staying busy nor preparing for a bigger fight.

i think he had a surgery Majr. He was out for a while, so a tune up/comeback is acceptable.
followed by the Goosen affair which threatened to end wards career, so the need to start again with a tune-up after that delay is perfectly acceptable.

We had an Alsatian called Majr.

Joe defended a lightly regarded title and he didn't care who he faced.

He fought Veit for the 2nd time, after he'd already beaten him in a single round, just 3 years earlier. He did that on the request of the WBO. An organisation who were a laughing stock, who once moved a fighter up it's rankings after he'd died.

Again, even when he knew Ottke wouldn't unify, and that there was nothing else on the horizon, he was still happy to face the likes of Mger Mkrtchyan. And to make things worse, he had to struggle like hell to to make weight to face those guys.

Every fighter faces soft touches. Everyone has low level mandatories, tune ups and comeback fights. But not everyone defends a lightly regarded title for 10 years in a weak division, when there's better competition at a more comfortable weight.

    Okay chief.

You clearly have no intention of having an actual debate.

You haven't addressed any points that I've made.

You've just wrote a paragraph of hate fuelled nonsense.

Regarding the poll, all that tells me, is who hates Andre and who likes Joe. Almost all of those opinions are based on emotion.

    We'll move on.

    Please!

You have constantly dismissed those wins.

You only give Andre a tiny amount of credit as you think they were faded when he fought them.

    You're a joker.

I only debate with you because of the entertainment factor.

    It's as simple as this:

You hype the wins of your favourite fighters whilst ignoring any relevant circumstances that may be a factor, yet you then do the exact opposite when you're looking at the resume of someone else.

Again, in your opinion, Froch and Kessler were faded when Andre fought them. Okay, fine. But you won't note that Eubank and Benn were also faded when they fought Joe and Collins. You list all of Kessler's issues going into the fight with Andre, but then turn a blind eye to Eubank's circumstances going into the fight with Joe.

How can anyone take you seriously when you're dismissing Andre's wins, whilst at the same time, you're highlighting Joe's wins over the likes of Sheika and Mkrtchyan?

If Andre had beaten those guys, you wouldn't give him an ounce of credit for the wins. But if Joe had beaten a guy like Kovalev, then you'd have needed a fresh pair of pants and we'd never hear the end of it.

yeh if joe had beaten kovalev, the joe fans would rate that higher than his victory over hopkins plain obviously.
THEY WOULD CLEARLY AND BLATANTLY INCONTESTABLY.

Because its Ward, well, it speaks volumes that TWO wins are entirely dismissed by them.
