Does Calzaghe have anyone of the caliber of Kovalev on his resume? Chad Dawson? Froch? Anywhere? His best wins were WAYYY past prime Hopkins and Jones Jr. This poll is absurd. And I don't even like Ward smh

Ward never legitimately beat Kovalev, so those two wins are a fluke and shouldn’t be counted. Also Joe was past his prime and in his late 30’s when he dissected Roy Jones and Hopkins.

Look at what you have written. Joker
Dawson had lost to Pascal (who had lost to an even further WAYYY past prime Hopkins) and was blasted out in a round by Stevenson. Arguably Dawsons best win was an even further WAYYY past prime Hopkins. Most of Dawsons biggest wins were against far older fighters. Dawson has no SMW pedigree at all and was dropping in weight. He wasnt a top SMW. Calzaghes win over Woodhall is a greater SMW win.
Froch had lost to a faded version of Kessler that Calzaghe took the 0 of.
Kovalev (Thought Ward lost the first fight and I think was fortunate to get away with low blows that I dont think should have been allowed in the return). What was Kovalevs best win? Not an even further WAYYY past prime Hopkins?
Calzaghes win over undefeated Kessler was arguably greater than Wards win over undefeated Kovalev. Kovalev 30-0-1, Kessler 39-0. Kessler had never been close to being beaten whereas Kovalev had a close debatable win over Boone (same as Ward).
Still Calzaghe had beaten Eubank who had far greater world title level experience and a far greater fighter

Still I guess you dont know the division when looking at your post

I don't know the division... You just went all out defending Kessler.. The same Kessler Andre Ward beat. And I don't know the division.. LOL. Notice how Kessler is the ONLY person you can remotely talk about on Calzaghe's resume because that's the only worth sh** fighter he fought in his prime. Unless you wanna count prime Jeff Lacy or prime Sakio Bika LOL. Get this mess of a comparison outta here. Dawson/Kovalev twice/Kessler/Froch/>Kessler and a bunch of faded fighters.

Kessler was on the caliber of those guys. 39-0 WBA/WBC unified champ when Calzaghe fought him.

I agree 100%. That's the only guy Calzaghe fought worth a damn. You don't go 46-0.. And have 1 prime fighter on your resume and expect to be placed among great fighters. No. Calzaghe's win over Kessler is a little better than Wards.. But the rest of his resume is absolute shi*.

The Hopkins, Jeff Lacy wins were not absolute ****. Don't forget Hopkins had just whooped Tarver who had shattered RJJ and also took WW to school. Jeff Lacy was considered a monster and supposed to run through Joe C but he got absolutely trashed.

Jeff Lacy was 21-0 going into the Calzaghe fight with no meaningful wins and went 6-5 with no meaningful wins after the Calzaghe fight. **** win. Hopkins.. Was an okay win. His resume is TERRIBLE. At least admit that much

Hopkins was way past his prime? Maybe past his physical peak but he was still operating at the sports highest levels up until a few years ago.

Kovalev is very good but who has he beat to be thought of as a great win for anyone? I mean, he was a dominant light heavyweight champion and ruled the division beating guys like Hopkins and Jean Pascal...but what makes Kovalev better than anyone on Joe's top 5? Beating Cleverly?

Froch and Dawson are pretty much equal in terms of the depth of their resumes. They beat some good opponents and were world champions who defended their titles but Joe did the same thing in his day. He just dominated and retires undefeated which none of the above were able to do

Ward fought his best opponents in their primes. Calzaghe fought his best opponents, when they were past it. Ward is the greater fighter, he has the better resume. Kovalev would have made Calzaghe his *****. Calzaghe needed bogus judging to get a win over a Hopkins that only had gas for six rounds. Calzaghe was also a huge coward.

Agreed. You just broke down Ward resume. You can't do the same with Calzaghe unless you gonna break down how great Jeff Lacy and Sakio Bika are SMH

Ward is a different beast. He did beat a lot of prime guys during his ascent as a hall of fame boxer. The super six was his coming out party and he's been on that trajectory right up until he retired. Joe had a full career that was great but he only had a few signature fights that meant a lot to his legacy. Being undefeated added to his overall status. He did beat some prime fighters but not many of them that were in scope with Ward. However, his longevity and consistency in dominating his division is worth a lot.

It just depends on what you like.. You like his longevity and fighting a whole bunch of nobodies.. I like Wards top heavy resume. To each their own. Joe literally has no one of note on his resume other than Kessler and you can possibly make a case for Hopkins. in 46 fights that's terrible

but if he'd fougth better, he have defeats. As joe pointed out, he didnt want tough fights and wanted to stay undefeated more than anything else. Not really the smartest things to admit on tv but there you have it.
