Hearns by a wide margin are you ****ing kidding me. The Hitman's 2 round demolition of ATG Roberto Duran is a feat Mayweather will never come close to replicating.

He was 6" taller than a past it Roberto Duran, check out the physics for a second. He had a huge stylistic advantage, and I think he would beat Floyd too, easy. He lost to Barkley, twice, Floyd would never loose to that calibre of fighter, twice.

    Floyd easily.

Hearns lost his two biggest fights getting knocked out in the process

To paraphrase you - in ten years time (at the end of his career)- no doubt Floyd will lose to somebody he shouldn't have. In the meantime nothing he has done compares to Hearns' victories over Duran or Benitez for that matter. Case closed. :deal

Maybe it will change in time.

Hearn was operating on a higher level throughout his career. At the moment its not particularly close but if Floyd ends up beating PAC in a convincing manner then the conversation becomes more interesting.

Against better fighters than Floyd would've ever stepped in the ring with. One of whom Hearns was badly outboxing prior to being stopped late, the other being a much stronger, sturdier MW who Hearns went out on his shield against in one of the greatest MW brawls of all time. Those aren't really black eyes when taken in the right context, especially when you're comparing him to Floyd. As if those losses put him at a disadvantage with a fighter of Mayweather's caliber.

Tough one. Hearns fought in a stronger era and welterweight where he did the most damage was his original weight class, while welterweight is Floyds 4th weight class.

Hmm, Hearns for now. But I fully expect Floyd to boost his legacy like crazy the next 2 years. He hungry again.

    I disagree with most here.

    Hearns, and it isn't close.

Benitez, Duran, Cuevas, Leonard (D), Hill

His resume is superior to Mayweather's, and he also gets preference for the risks he took during his long career.

That would be one interesting fight!

It's so hard to say, because even though Hearns was seen as being beatable, he fought alot better competition than Mayweather has. I suppose it depends on how much you rate an unbeaten record. I think Floyd will have to do bit more to be seen in the same 'all time great catagory' as the 'Motor City Cobra!'

Most people who are going with Tommy seem to be focusing on his comp - which is quite correct. His comp is so far and away better than Floyd's. However, I think we are perhaps overlooking the fact that Tommy was a superior fighter in terms of ability as well. Has Floyd ever come close to replicating the standard that Tommy reached in the Benitez and Leonard fights? I would say no. Don't get me wrong, I don't think there is an enormous gap between these two, but for me Hearns takes it on ability as well as resume.

The Hitman was a beast with his skills but alot of what he did had to do with the freak of nature he was with his height, power and REACH!

Floyd is dominating and rarely is the taller bigger fighter and his reach is nothing like Hearns.

Skill wise i cant see either just being better than the other but i had to choose im goin Floyd simply because his defense is better. hey both have everything else but Floyd has better defense?

oh and when i say taller i mean a significant height advantage and reach advantage...hearns was trumping people with these advantages....hell it took greats to be able to deal with that...sheesh.

    More or less correct.
