A 1 handed jones dominated Hopkins. Pac has never been dominated, he got KO'd twice on both fights he was winning due to his weight problems.
I agree that Pacquiao should be higher, but that is a ****ing bull**** reason. Tarver and Trinidad were easily as good as Taylor, Pavlik and Wright were clearly better. Pavlik and Tarver were bigger than Taylor, and Trinidad and Wright successfully competed at the same weight as Taylor. Also, I rank Trinidad and Wright higher than Calzaghe in all-time pound-for-pound terms. Also, mentioning Jones is meaningless. 1993-2003 he would've beaten almost anyone in history at those weights. You're a good poster mate, but that was woeful.
Hopkins opposition at MW is deplorable. The fact that he was MW champ for 12 years and only defended it 20 times shows he's only fought less than 2X a year. And with the way he fights, no wonder he reigned that long :roll:atsch Losing to Taylor is prolly the greatest single thing that happened to Hopkins because it made him move up and be a lesser ***** in negotiating fights.
Hopkins beat smaller men in De La Hoya and Trinidad. Hell even Pavlik was coming up in weight to beat him. Pac is fighting bigger men. Hopkins lost his biggest and most important fights against Taylor, Jones Jr and Calzaghe. If he'd won those then he has a better resume than Manny. Also take into account that Manny lays it all on the line and fights to win, whereas Hopkins is highly defensive, that's why he's never been decisively beaten because how do you beat someone who doesn't come to fight? Saying Hopkins resume beats Pac's is insane.
hopkins lost twice to taylor....rarely do you see a ATG lost twice in a row... but hopkins stock would go up if pavlik would be an ATG in the future
i would say pacquiao has the bigger heart...hopkins refuse to move up and earn his way into a rematch with jones
close. a good argument can be made for both sides, made harder due to the fact both are still active.
Pac will be sorely missed when he's gone. The excitement he brings to the sport is invaluable. On the other hand, I can't wait for Hopkins to retire. He is just there to spoil great matches. If he'd not been around, we'd already seen Pavlik-Calzaghe, a sure action-packed fight.
