I put monzón above chavez, he fought and did beat the best available guys , made 14 defences of the title and retired as champion of the world. Yes chavez won in different weight classes but i think that carlos was better and more dominant mw than chavez was at any weight between 130 and 147

Both great fighters. But, since the inquiry is P4P, I lean towards Chavez. At 130 and 135 Chavez was a total beast.

Good question but I've got to lean towards Monzon on this.

Chavez spread himself across divisions. He's probably the best 140 pounder ever and was a tremendous lightweight too although spent too little time there to be ranked really high at 135.

Monzon has a strong case as the greatest middleweight of all time. To be that high in boxing's second marquee division just tips the balance in his favour in my view.

    Both undeniably great though.

Chavez. I believe Julio won 30 title fights across 3 divisions. The guy was dominant.

Not sure how one can rate Monzon in a p4p capacity, when he never tested himself above his ideal weight. What's worse, in the division Monzon exclusively fought in, he generally enjoyed a size advantages in those fights. So I'm not sure how this is even a question, it's clearly Chavez imo

Chavez lost against the only great fighters that he fought in withaker and de la hoya.
Camacho, taylor, rosario, roger,la porte,castillo.. No of them was great.. So where is your "much better fighters "?
Much better than nino benvenuti, emile grifith, mantequilla nápoles, benie briscoe, rodrigo valdez, jean claude bouttier, licata?
