Who do you rank higher: GGG or Sergio Martinez

Why wouldn't he beat him in your opinion?

Paul Williams was no easy task. Martinez did what no one had been able to do. A prime Martinez was way to slick for Golovkin. "Lead footed Canelo" looked like Pernell Whitaker against GGG, Sergio Martinez would look like Willie Pep.

 

And Gennady Golovkin.

That's why he doesn't have credibility.

 

Because of GGG?

 

Because he is an unreasonable person when it comes to some specific fighters.

 

Jacobs trumps anything on Martinez' resume. He's a known, big, top level middleweight with power, and wins over some solid opposition, which lets us know what he is. Post Hopkins Pavlik never did anything, and that is Martinez' best win.

Golovkin beat down Martin Murray. When Martinez fought Murray in Argentina, Murray was robbed.

Admittedly the resume's of both are fairly shitty.

 

Jacobs has beaten no one of note. Martinez beat Pavlik who was the lineal champ at 160 that alone destroys anything GGG has done.

The negating of a win if it's over a "blown up" opponent doesn't work if that opponent has established himself with quality wins in the higher division. Rigondeaux vs Lomachenko, there is a point to be made, but Trinidad's loss to Hopkins was sandwhiched between wins over top 10 middles. Should Dawson's or Kovalev's wins over Hopkins be negated, because he was a career middleweight?

 

What's with all these stipulations? RJJ Tito Taylor are all clearly better than anyone Jacobs or GGG beat. There is no one that GGG faced that is better than RJJ period end of discussion. He also holds wins over Pavlik and Winky and Tarver

 

Jacobs wasn't even a title holder . Pavlik held the WBC strap and was also the Ring and Lineal MW Champion.

Pavlik is clearly a way better opponent and win than Jacobs.

When Martinez fought Murray he was a broken down old man with one hand and one leg , and Murray STILL couldn't beat him.


To make matters worse , Murray had to fight dirty to gain an advantage against this old broken down Sergio. .

Thats how useless Murray was. He restored to kneeing Sergio's injured leg because he wasn't good enough to outbox him.

Boxrec eh? Nobody with real knowledge of Pavlik's career would even attempt to argue that post Hopkins Pavlik, was anything more than an alcoholic shell of his former self. Jacobs KO's that guy.

And what does Lineal really mean? Its nothing but a title. Fringe contenders have been the Lineal Champ before.
