Martinez beating Pavlik is better than any Golovkin accomplishment. Being lineal for 4 years trumps being lineal for zero years.

 

Taylor fought Ouma in 2006 GGG fought him in 2011 big difference there.

Kelly had been MW champ for three years when Maravilla schooled him.

Canelo had never fought a real MW at MW before Golovkin.

Golovkin stopped the more experienced Ouma via a career-ending beating, whereas Taylor nearly got outworked by Ouma in a decision win.

Stop it. A war torn Ouma who never had a win of note after losing to Taylor. There's no question Taylor beat a better version of Ouma than GGG did. Ouma does nothing for GGG's resume yet another reason why Martinez is greater.

You can pick any two defenses in Abraham's weak reign and it trumps beating a hobbled MW version of Cotto and dragging up tiny ass Khan (even as funny and satisfying as it was to watch Canelo beat his tiny ass up)

Pavlik, in turn, is vastly superior to Abraham.

Maravilla has a VERY good win there.

Golovkin has a "?" draw in Canelo I. There's very little data on Canelo vs. other middleweights. In fact, there's none.

 

I don't rate that version of Pavlik too high. Lots of personal issues, alcohol etc.

Taylor got two gifts against an old man, but again the Pavlik that stopped Taylor was not the Pavlik that Martinez beat. Martinez beat 42 year old Hopkins' leftovers. Pavlik was a broken man when he faced Martinez.

The Quillen win is now, what it was then. A good win. What do you mean, in hindsight? It's not like Quillen has been getting his ass kicked since. lol.

When you put a 154 pounder with no notable middleweight wins (Ouma) and a former welter with no notable middleweight wins (Spinks) who was also robbed against Taylor, as evidence to try and prop Pavlik's win, and gift over Taylor up, it gets a bit comical. You even add make believe things like Taylor having beaten Miranda when they never fought.

 

Taylor never fought Miranda and Truax and Lacy came at 168.

His resume prior to beating Hopkins was imo less deep, but in no way poor compared to Jacobs pre GGG.

Ouma and Sprinkle (Spinks) came after Hopkins during his title reign.

 

Be that as it may, that is all very speculative. What is concrete is that he came into the Sergio fight with a wealth of MW championship experience and had been on p4p lists until the Hopkins loss (which occurred in another division).

Meanwhile, prior to Golovkin, the Cinnamon Stick had fought zero middleweights at middleweight. He fought an old gimpy 140/147lber and then a chinny 135/140/147lber at the division limit, and then fought a defective chip off the Leyenda block at some dumb 164lb halfway-to-SMW catchweight. So, zero middleweights at middleweight.
