Who do you rank higher p4p: donaire or martinez?

Over their last 10 fights, Nonito is 10-0 (9 KO) with significant wins over Montiel, Darchinyan, and good wins over Sydorenko, Luis Maldonado, Hernan Marquez and Raul Martinez.

In the same span, Marquez is 8-2 (5 KO), losing to both Mayweather and Pacquiao, with wins over Barrera, Katsidis, Juan Diaz, Joel Casamayor and Rocky Juarez.

In the same span, Martinez is 8-1-1 (4 KO), with significant wins over Williams and Pavlik, a loss to Williams, and a draw with Cintron.

None of Marquez wins were over a P4P ranked fighter while losing to two others, while Nonito has a big win over Montiel (ranked 7 P4P by the Ring) and Martinez has Williams (also ranked 7 by the Ring before their fight).
Because of this, I take both Martinez and Nonito over Marquez.

Martinez's win over Pavlik gives him a slight edge over Donaire, although over their last 10 fights, Donaire has a more impressive run while Martinez only has the Cintron draw as his other significant fight. His other wins were over mainly unknown / unranked fighters:

However, I still rank Martinez over Nonito because of the Pavlik win but the difference between the two is close and won't argue with anyone putting Donaire higher.

 

I'm sorry but the last 10 fights is a pretty silly number to use. Should Hopkins also still get credit for his Tarver win when constructing pound-for-pound lists today? Honestly it seems like you chose 10 so you could still use the Vic win to bolster Donaire's case even though it happened years ago. Also everyone knows Martinez beat Cintron.

 

Donaire, unquestionably. He was already 5-10 on most p4p lists. The Montiel fight sealed it.

That span of 10 fights excluded Marquez's loss to Chris John so you can't really say I used it to bolster Donaire's case. If we consider the last 5 fights only, Donaire's best win would still trump over Marquez's best win and Marquez's last 5 fights include a loss to PBF. So no matter how you take it, Donaire has a case to be ranked over Marquez.

 

I ain't sold on Martinez cause he has never beaten an intelligent, technicially proficient fighter.

Obviously he is good but I can't put him on the level of Pac, Marquez, Flyod, Donaire, and Ward.

 

I was talking more about how close you said Donaire is to Martinez, but I think a case can still be made for putting Marquez ahead as well. Yes the Montiel win is better individually than any of Marquez's, but in the last 5 Marquez beat the lineal champ of his division, the number one contender in Katsidis, and the best non-Pacquiao opponent in the first Diaz match. I think one can easily say that he's faced a high level of competition more regularly than Donaire has, and that the ranking comes down to how much you penalize him for the Mayweather and how much you reward Donaire for the Montiel fight.

If there was an option for tied, that would be my choice, especially now that it's been revealed that Kelly Pavlik was just 10 days removed from an alcoholic rehab facility when he fought Martinez.
