Who do you rank higher p4p ?... Lewis or Morales ?

    tyson was number 1 in 88 and 89 but that was by KO magazine, holy was #3 in 98...lewis was never a top 9 p4p fighter because of his size...why do they penalize lennox overall ability just because of his size?

    this is probably the toughest poll i've ever voted on. i love them both and p4p all time, they are right about the same place. I voted morales but tomorrow i might have voted lewis. too close to call (course I just watched lewis-mercer so that might have something to do with it)

    lennox is legit top 50 ATG while morales, to some is not even top 75

    Finally a bit of common sense.

    Morales can throw a wider variety of punches & has better balanced feet, I suppose Im not allowed to mention he takes the better shot because LL is a HWT but **** it, that particular quality has had a TREMENDOUS impact in both mens career in championship fights.
    Lennox was a good distance boxer, quite smooth on his feet for his size, could throw good combinations & had great 1 punch power, he never looked comfortable or capable when inside.
    Erik was a great distance boxer, excellent counter puncher, very good inside fighter, great a pressing the action & able to switch styles multiple times in between fights, very good puncher, especially at 122 with good speed.

    When both guys are in fights that arent quite going there way, I see a lot more inner belief & determination from Erik than I do Lennox in his ability to absorb whatever he has taken, both physically & mentally then come back with that rare champions drive & pull level or clear past his opponent.

    I dont buy that HWTs a punished on p4p rankings, if your good enough, you get ranked & thats that.

    I never ever seen Lewis in a top 5 position, Morales was mostly always in the top 5 in his prime while being continually in the toughest weight classes, his best ranking was 2nd, 1 behind Hopkins & 1 ahead of Mayweather (sept 2004)

    I could throw entertainment value in there for a bonus point but I hardly think its called for.

    I think Morales was better but I think some rate Lewis higher is because he was more well known compared to Morales due to the weightclass Lewis fought in being more popular.

    I said IF. It's hypothetical. Obviously Lewis beat them both. If a smaller, lighter boxer beats a heavier, larger, skilled boxer obviously he is very very good. Morales fought boxers that weighed as much as him. On the other hand Lewis was usually much bigger than the boxers he faced. He outweighed Holyfield by 25-30 pounds and Tyson by 15 pounds. He just brings more pounds to the table than the other guy and that's the reason it's hard to rate him p4p.

    Morales, and its not a tough decision at all.

    Morales gave us some of the greatest fights of my generation. Skilled exciting boxer who would fight anyone and would prefer to have put on an exciting fight than take the easy option.

    Lewis was just a backpeddling, safety-first boxer who fought boxers who were smaller.

    Morales, but it's close.

    In a P4P sense, Morales was closer to the top and included universally amongst P4P lists for much longer.

    In that sense, he is better by definition as I see it.

    Lewis undoubtedly has the greater legacy, but to me, these are two separate issues.
