BHop fighting at this level at age 44 has surpassed Jones. Yes, I know he lost head to head but Hopkins has fought and beat the better fighters period.

If they were to fight tomorrow Hopkins would shatter Roy's Glass Jaw all over the place.

I still have to give it to Roy Jones for his victory over Bernard and the fact that he won the WBA title at heavyweight.

I am more of a Hopkins fan, but I vote for Jones. It's close in my eyes, but Jones edges it. 1993-2003 he was one of the greatest boxers in history. Though if Hopkins can make the fight with Adamek and win before he retires, that would put Hopkins slightly ahead on account of resume/longevity IMO.

    some other factors to consider
being that roy jones was an olympian and such, he probably had more time to train, got paid more, and was better protected early in his career than hopkins, a clubfighter who lost his first one
after losing his first fight and then not losing again till he fought jones is a worthy achievement

Definitely Jones. Hopkins stayed at middleweight forever while Jones was moving up winning titles. Before Tarver and Pavlik, Hopkins biggest wins came against Trinidad and Oscar who weren't even natural middleweights.

but wouldnt that be offset in the fact that hop got some of his biggest wins in his late 30s and 40s

Jones. BHOP gets too much credit for beating Tito and Oscar, I know those were good wins but those were former welters that shouldn't have been fighting at middle.
And not to mention that Jones beat BHOP and his win against a prime Toney is better than anything BHOP has done.

Not to me. Do you think Hopkins would've even considered fighting Tarver back when Tarver knocked Roy out? Hopkins is smart. He knew Tarver had nothing left and he knew he could make Pavlik's overrated one dimensioal ass look stupid. Roy hasnt done anymore cherry picking than Hopkins has. Don't get me wrong though I love Hopkins. He just ain't better than Roy resume, H2H, or however you wanna look at it.
