Hopkins did travel to fight. Once which was more than Roy ever thought about doing.

Also I have NEVER said Roy should have gone to Germany only that I wish a compromise could be made.

Roy UD in a hell of a fight. I can't see prime Roy getting knocked out because he was too fast to get hit with a killer shot or a killer combo.

I cant say Roy ducked him because I dont blame any fighter for not going to Germany. I don't care where you're from.

I would love to say Hopkins, and it is VERY close. Hopkins is top 30.

But you could say that RJJ is a top ten of all time. People forget how good he was in his prime...he was untouchable.

He wouldn't outpoint Jones, no, but his boxing skills are underrated.

He outjabbed Virgil Hill pretty easily and was heavy handed...... certainly a very live dog at worst against Jones.

Steve Collins always wanted Jones because he felt he was chinny.... not sure Collins had it though.

I gotcha. You make some good points. I'll never put Hopkins above Roy on my list but you make a lot of sense.

Hopkins never faced any of the formidable fighters from 160 to 175 the whole 90s, with the exception of Jones whom he lost

Ehhh, if I was betting on a Collins/Jones fight I would probably go with Jones but I admit I have only seen youtube clips of Collins never a full fight.

I haven't seen much of Collins myself.... from what I have seen I would put the house on Jones.

Collins had a fair bit of power and a lot of balls.... but two wins each against a shot Nigel Benn and an undermotivated, faded Eubank is his resume.

Benn and Eubank would stand much better chance of success against Jones.

Out of Benn and Eubank who do you think would have the better shot at beating Jones?

Jones Jr clearly imo. But it would get a lot closer if Hopkins picked up a CW belt.

Benn, although he is also the most likley to get schooled.

It depends.... Eubank was never really the same after the 2nd Watson fight.....

Probably about even... Eubank was a clever boxer with underrated (and underused) power..... Benn was the opposite, huge power and underrated skills.

If I had to make a choice, Eubank based on styles - he would laugh at Jones's punches for starters and would make Jones think about his work.

Roy is like Ezzard and Bernard is like Archie. Roy was a better head 2 head fighter. He was more complete in his prime but Ex had the longer reign at the top. Resmue is close but I still have Roy ahead. Hopkins needs a win over Kessler, Dawson, or Adamek and I would have them pretty much dead even.
