Who do you rate higher: Hagler, Hearns, Leonard or Duran?

I'm not surprised alot of people are going for Duran, Duran was a hell of a fighter himself and has remarkable accomplishments. Personally, I give it to Ray by a shade because I think Ray was the best all-around fighter I've had the pleasure to watch, and his best wins are just absurd. KO'ing prime Hearns, Benitez, making Duran quit, and beating an ATG 2 divisions higher in his first fight at the weight after a layoff are incredible achievements.

Leonard beat Hagler and had absolutely no business doing so. I think the fact Leonard had been inactive and was fighting way above his optimal weight almost cancels out that Hagler had shown "signs" of age in his fight with Mugabi. Let's not overstate just how past his peak Hagler was, he was past his best but not by a huge margin. Leonard beat a good version, despite being the smaller man. All-time great win.

Marvin should be the best H2H considering he has a size advantage over all of his contempories, but Leonard dispelled that. Ray beat all of them, and therefore he should be ranked the highest in a H2H sense, in my opinion.

As a side note, I think Hagler beats Hearns even in the event that Tommy has a solid chin. He broke his hand in that fight, and Hagler had a very long reach himself, and could box effectively enough if he wanted too. Hagler was not looking to go down on the end of any right hands that night. It was his time.

If the Hagler-Hearns bout played out the same way but with Tommy having the chin to last just a couple more rounds, I think we'd have seen a cut stoppage victory for Hearns. Full credit goes to Hagler though- I think he knew he had a ticking clock to get the knockout and he got it.

Gotta go with leonard cause he beat all three of them. I know I know the Hagler fight was questionable, so was the second Hearns matchup ,as well as his first loss was to Duran, but he did beat them all and none of the other fighters on the list can say that.

Half of this forum masturbates to a picture of Duran every night. Another 48% whack it to a picture of Pryor.

The remaining 2% actually know boxing.

Duran is viewed much higher on this site then he is on others. I think it has more to do with the makeup here.

then there is are the untruths that are told about his fight with Leonard...Leonard was green when he fought Duran...Duran didnt move up in weight to fight Leonard...It wasnt a big upset that Duran won the fight...the fight was close and really could have gone either way.

But as its told here, Duran was moving up in weight to fight a prime GREATest welterweight, and he was a huge underdog that no one thought had any shot of winning. Its all lies....

FACT:Duran had been fighting as a welterweight since around the time that Ray turned pro.

FACT:Ray had just turned 24, and was only three years into is career

FACT:The fight was seen as a pick'm going in and the betting money was pretty even.

FACT:Many people at the time felt that Ray still won the fight even though he stood and traded with Duran.

FACT:Duran lost two other fights vs Leonard that seems to be swept under the rug. They act as if it was the only fight between the two.

Hearns is my favourite, but as far as ATG rankings go:

    1. Duran
    2. Leonard
    3. Hagler
    4. Hearns

I think the TS meant career wise, p4p, the H2H is obviously SRL,Hagler, Hearns, Duran in that order.

I agree mostly with this post....

Duran was a terrific fighter no doubt, one of the best ever but Leonard could do it all, great great fighter.

If SRL had not retired during his prime yrs, I dont doubt he could even be top 3 p4p ever but he did & Duran`s longevity as you say gives him massive bonus points when comparing the 2.
I think SRLs resume can certainly **** with Duran`s & blows it away if your talking WINNING resume, 4 of the best wins in history... Duran twice, Hearns, Benitez & Hagler.
