    1st line - I agree 100% :good

    2nd line - NO CHANCE.

Hearns with a solid chin would whip everyone from 160 downwards in history more than likely (possibly except for Robinson, great fight)

Tommy would beat Hagler by wide UD if he had that chin, no problem at all, his boxing ability was terrific, he would whip Marvin`s ass.

I agree that Hagler wasn't washed-up; but his performance was nowhere near his best. He gave away several rounds by trying to outbox Ray and not trying to get inside as he shoudl have. More importantly, he was incredibly sluggish that night, both in terms of handspeed and reactions. That was a decidedly weak version of Hagler, for whatever reason.

If Tommy had a solid chin, he could have afforded to outbox Hagler Leonard-style, which he could have done. Contrary to popular perception, Hearns had the speed, range and skills to box on the outside to a decision just as well as Leonard. As it was, he felt he needed to try and engage with Hagler and wipe him out before he got his jaw smashed. If he'd gone onto the back foot, he would have had nothing to stop Hagler just charging him down and inevitably over 15 rounds catching him.

    That's pretty much what happened.

Hearns was aggressive very early on, but then tried to box Hagler mid-way through the first. Hagler knew that Hearns was very effective at boxing at range so Hagler turned into an aggressive swarmer for that fight and was all over Tommy.

Hearns was having some success in the middle of the first round when boxing at range and circling. He landed some right hands, but Hagler was able to cut off the ring and get Hearns on the ropes. By the time Hearns got off the ropes his legs were doing a dance. After the first Hagler continued to get to Hearns with regularity when Hearns would try to box and move. I remember right after Steele had Hagler go to the doctor because of the blood, Hearns was backing up near the ropes and got caught with a monster right hand. And then Hagler finished off Hearns when Hearns was backing up and threw a lazy jab.

Thomas Hearns was not looking to box that night. He came out all guns firing just as Marvin had. He still would have broke his hand, and your not going to win a firefight with Hagler with one hand. Doesn't matter how good your chin is.

Hearns went to war in the early going. After a minute or so, he tried to use more movement and box, while also throwing some winging right hands designed to do serious damage to Hagler. He got cornered and mauled on the ropes until the round ended. From the 2nd round on to the end of the fight, he again tried to box and use the ring, with his jab being less authoratitive and snapping that it had been in the past (such as the Leonard fight). In either game plan, he wasn't getting the better of it, Hagler was.

Hearns tried a bit of boxing after the 1st rd, must have been because of the hand I suppose, he was having some success but it was his chin that let him down, if he had that chin, he could have taken Hagler`s shots - as he wasnt a devastating puncher, more accumulative - & kept his jab pumping from the outside, constantly moving... OK, maybe Marvin would have still got the best of him as he couldnt throw the right but I wasnt thinking about the broken hand when I predicted a Hearns UD.

A broken hand is a rare thing in a big fight, who would you fancy to win if Tommy had a granite chin with no broken hand ?

Id fancy a Hearns UD personally.

Has 2 Duran but i'd say Hagler is a close 2nd as both dominated thet respective weight classes + All though i'am a duran fan it don't blind me 2 the superb qualities ov Leanard & Hearns who were both great champs in there own rights but neither were dominant over a generation.

Also folks yer all forgeting one one the greatest boxing masters ov all times in WILFRED BENITEZ & please don't start dumping yer stats on this, Benitez was a genuine 3 weight champ at 22 years of age, incredible!!! should be the fab 5.
