I'm up in the air about this. I saw Barrera's first US fight, he'd just turned 18 and was real good. I saw JMM's fifth fight, and he was something as well. I thought that Barrera and Morales both ducked Marquez, and that Marquez would have beaten Morales. Barrera I was never sure about and I wish they'd have fought in 2000, maybe. I think Barrera would have won at that point, but Marquez has aged better.
Manny was a beast at LW!...a very busy fighter and scary just how accurate and determined he was..( And still is )
Not sure, its close either way, all 3 Mexicans (EM, MAB, JMM) are on each others level IMO but nobody did it like Morales did it, he`s my favourite of the 3.
Marquez has been nothing but a political puppet who needed over 40 attempts to beat the system. Fought nobody's inbetween and got embarrassingly cleaned out by Mayweather. Great boxer, but Barrera is above him.
I find it very hard to pick out of Barrera or Marquez. Barrera's resume is completely stacked: Tapia, Ayala, McKinney, Morales Trilogy victory, Hamed. He had taken a prime Marquez right to the edge in a very even fight that Marquez edged, when Barrera was past it. Barrera had evolved since his losses to Junior Jones. Marquez on the other hand, had won the rivalry with Pacquiao who is 29th in my ATG rankings, being of old age. He also beat Salido and Gainer which I give him huge credit for. If Marquez beat Chris John convincingly, and Freddie Norwood (even though Marquez was relatively inexperienced at the time, but still was of prime AGE and had 30 professional fights), I'd put Marquez above Barrera. Overall: 1. Barrera 2. Marquez 3. Morales
