Benn shocked the world against Barkley and McClellan - you can't get better world title defenses than that!

But Eubank beat Benn, didn't he. Even made him look silly - only Benn's power kept him in the fight.

He also beat Watson, twice, who beat Benn; knocked out the man who knocked out Benn.

He came out of the Benn rematch draw without a mark on his face at the post-fight presser. Then dominated, for the most part, 35-0 6ft4in southpaw former/future world champion Rocchigiani in his own German backyard. That win looked even better when Rocchigiani went on to give Maske and Michalczewski hell, looking to have beaten both of them, and beat Nunn just before Eubank/Thompson I (at CRUISERWEIGHT, incidently); whom Eubank dominated for six rounds before his eye shut, both times.

He very nearly stopped Wharton, Collins, Calzaghe and Thompson, and probably would've done if the Watson injuries weren't in the back of his mind.

I'd just have to give my vote to Eubank. He was the better boxer, but could also punch as well as anyone and fight as hard as anyone. Benn could punch hard, fight aggressively and box a little. But Eubank was far the superior boxer. Look at the Malinga fights, Eubank coasts easily and Benn struggles like hell. Malinga can't touch Eubank with his jab and can't miss Benn with it.

It did appear like Benn quit twice against Collins. Eubank didn't know the meaning of the word.

There is a great Boxing News (world's oldest boxing publication) article on the second-decade anniversary of Eubank-Benn I recently.

Benn has the better wins : Barkley , Sims and a few lesser ones (he never beat McClellan , that referee must have been suspended for life)
But , Eubanks proved to be Benn's daddy stopping him , rematching him , stopping Watson who stopped him and might have a claim to never losing to Collins whom stopped Benn twice.

Both Eubanks and Collins are way ahead , even Henry Wharton may have a claim to being ahead.

Eubank made far less of an international impression. In another era he would only have been a good British and Euro champ who had the better record against other Euro fighters who also fought internationally. His title wasnt worth anything on the world scene at that time but he made money defending it. The divison had a league of champions and a league of chalengers.

Eubank was not fighting hearns, mike mccallum, barkley, nunn, gerald mcclellan, toney or roy jones was he? Benn made a better impression in that regard.

when Eubank did that "10 title fights in 10 months deal" he was defending his low rent WBO title against unknowns and looking lucky to win on points on a lot of occasions.

Don’t get me wrong I went to his fights and Chris was the best I saw live, beter than calzaghe, but im talking legacy.

I think Benn improved after he lost to Eubank and overtook him. Eubank-Benn II was an indecisive dud -largely because Eubank was so negative.

Michael Moorer and Dariusz Michalczewski held that belt in the 80s and 90s when they were the best light-heavy in the world, and Hearns held it in a unification with Leonard. It also put Oscar on the map in '94 and Barrera and Hamed on the map in '95.

Watson had fought for the WBA version (against McCallum) just before, Malinga had fought twice for the IBF version (against Lindell and Graciano), Jarvis had fought for the IBF version just before, Essett had fought for the WBA and WBC versions, Thornton would fight for the IBF version (against Toney) just after, Giminez had fought for the WBC version just before, Lindell was recently IBF champ, Ray Close was Euro champ, Benn was WBC champ, Graciano never lost the IBF title, Amaral would fight for the WBA version (against Liles) just after, Wharton had fought for the WBC version (against Benn) just before.

    Let's not get silly, choklab.

Yes but benn won the WBO middle title off of dewitt when mccallum and nunn were regarded as beter champions then he lost it to eubank. eubank defended it against dan sherry and garry stretch then moved up to the wbo's super middle vacant title with the Watson rematch in what would have been a battle to find the best British middleweight in an earlier era. Its not international enough - and thatÂ’s when he peaked.

How good were Malinga ,Jarvis, Essett, Thornton, Giminez, Lindell, Ray Close, Graciano, Amaral and Wharton when eubank fought them and how convincing a champion was eubank against them?

Holmes and Rocchigiani were very very good, and Essett was very good, and Thornton made every round with Toney close and competitive (and was leading James after six).

The rest weren't particularly good, but they fought for the other titles, too, 'big 3' and all that.
