Mormek was an embarrassment, but at least on paper it looked good. He had a good win streak, he had solid credentials in lower weight class, and he looked to be in superb shape coming into the fight. Of course, he was also 39 years old, had to buy his win against Oquendo and he was shot to ****, but hey, he got his title fight by working for it.
I don't think it's a matter of not being able to fight worth a lick. It's more of them not being prepared to be in the ring with someone as intimidating as Kbros. Plus it's hard to fight someone that hits like a cannon and has such reach advantage and ring control.

I don't really have to think THAT hard to imagine a worse title fight. Scott Ledoux and Mike Weaver come to mind for Holmes.

I disagree. I think studying Wlad gave Haye an opportunity to not only go the distance, but look better than any other fighter against Wlad (Except Sanders). Haye fell short because Wladimir trained his heart out for the fight and fought it as well as he could, barely taking any risks.

Ali would have approached the preparation in his typical cocky manner. Haye would come knowing exactly what he has to face, while Clay would have to spend precious ring time figuring his opponent out.

I knew you were gonna bring Terrell up, everyone does for some reason. Yet Ernie was NOWHERE near the level Kbros are. He was tall, yes. Other than that he had nothing else. He was downright intimidated, he pretty much let Ali lead the fight and did not use his height advantage at all. Frankly, I don't even think he was 6'6. On the time he looked an inch taller than Ali at most, and he certainly did not fight a tall man fight, nor did he have a plan for the fight.

Wlad Klitschko is taller, MUCH heavier (What was Terrell's prime weight? 212? Wlad is 240 +), hit MUCH, MUCH harder, and best of all, he is faster and has much better ring control. On top of it all, Wlad fights a tall man's fight, keeping the distance and tying up as soon as his preferred range is cut short.

Based on credentials, nothing else. I watched him in amateurs and his early career before he balooned to a walking burger storage. There is precious little that Solis couldn't do in the ring, his reaction was superb, punching power was good, he was disciplined and he had all the talent an ATG would need. Do not be so quick to dismiss him, Solis is just as talented as Cassius Clay was, except he is lazy as hell and let himself go :(

It's a bit of a mute point now, but the Holyfield that fought Tyson in their first fight would beat prime Ali 10/10 times. That version of Holy struggled only with fighters with huge size advantages, yet he still won his fair share against em.

Today, NOBODY, prime or not would beat prime Ali. That said, I can't think of a guy who would win 5/10 against him in history. Except of course Evander on his comeback.

Had he retired after Tyson 2, GOAT or #2-4 woulda been tossed around regularly.

The K2 would however roll through every other HW of the 70s and 80s, with the exception of Tyson. :think

Cooney and Fury would be 50/50. Helenius would be 99/1 vs Cooney. And Mitchell would roll him in a round or two.

Talk about your pretenders. And Let's not forget as to the OP that while people consider Vitali struggling with DelBoy while winning a minimum of 9 rounds, Holmes went life and death with a raw Witherspoon and lost consecutive decisions to china chinned Spinks. Albeit he was robbed in the first one IMO.:think

  6. Think about the fact that Gerry Cooney would be champ if he fought today. Holmes is a top 10 ATG. Wlad and Vitali are somewhere in the top 50.

    That's a ridiculous statement.

Bro, this would be an insulting question to any boxing fan but i have got to ask you...
Have you actually watched prime Ali fight?

Holyfield was special, one of the elite hw's of all time, but 10/10 times over a PRIME Ali? :?

Surely Ali would win 1 right. No. Alright then.

    Wladimir Klitschko >>> Larry Holmes

    Vitali Klitschko >>> Larry Holmes

Holmes was an overrated bum beater who fought in a pathetically weak era.

    - he went life and death with glass chinned bum Cooney for 13 rounds...tomato can Cooney was the only tall fighter Holmes ever fought.

    - went life and death with 15 fight novice mediocre Witherspoon

    - was knocked down, badly hurt and almost KO'd by tomato cans Shavers, Snipes, etc.

    - lost twice to glass jawed joke Spinks, who spent 95% of his career at 175 and 168

    - got KTFO by overrated hypejob Tyson

    Either Klitschko would destroy Holmes.
