just because a guy is from the old era does not mean he is better and how many of the fights have you seen from these guys? Do you have the jimmy jacobs and bill cayton collection of those great clear fights? Larry Holmes would have destroyed Joe Louis as even Larry said he would and Foreman would have knocked Dempsey out of the ring.

head to head matters and to think ross would even compete with hearns duran or leonard is a laughable.

I'm starting to resent Addie for blaming me for Classic getting this way. I didn't do it. I swear.

OK I will because I think allot of people don't realise how deep Hearns resume is. Plus I'd say his best wins are at least on par with Ross's and in the Leonard rematch he beat a fighter better than anyone Ross beat. Lets break down the wins:

    Top Tier

Leonard (pretty much everyone agrees he won over a man in many people top10s, Hearns was past prime himself)

Benitez (arguably the best 140lber ever, fresh off beating Duran/Hope people were considering 154 his best division and thought he was peaking at this time, the Duran win looked better than Leonard's imo, he as considered a Hagler opponent)

Duran (Duran looked back to his best against Moore and Hagler, is a lock for most people's top10s and the manner of the win was epic plus it was a unification)

Cuevas (easily destroying a dominant champion fresh off something like 10 KO defenses)

Prime Virgil Hill (A 10year LHW champ, with 23 world title wins, undefeated in his prime completely outboxed despite Hearns being past his best)

Andries - first LHW world title win, Andries wasn't that great but he had just beat Tony Sibson and he'd come back to win the title back off Harding going 1-2

    Secondary Tier

Roldan - 1 of Hagler's most underrated wins imo, Hearns beat him much quicker

Bruce Curry - deserved 1 of the Benitez fights the year before, very quick and solid skills, went onto become a world champ at 140lbs

Espada - ex-WW champ, who gave Cuevas a good trilogy destroyed

Weston - 2 time challenger for WW world titles who also has a draw with Benitez. Another man who suffered a detached retina at the hands of Hearns jab I'm guessing

Gazo - ex LMW champ who'd lost his title on an SD away in a Japanese fighters backyard blasted out in a round

Randy Shields - ex world title challenger who'd gone 12 with Cuevas and Leonard stopped

Minchillo - European LMW champ, when it meant something

Schuler - undefeated top prospect knocked out in a round, Schuler died soon after this

    Dewitt - MW fringe contender

Gray - Ex-title challenger and Commonwealth champ when it meant something

Nate Miller - probably Hearns last decent win at the age of 41, a WBA cruserweight champion, Hearns beat him wider than cruser champs Tiozo/Orlin Norris would do when he was pretty much shot himself, maybe if Hearns got him a couple of years earlier that would be a 6th division title

I think the fighters he lost to in his prime Hagler/Leonard were better than anyone Ross beat. Even in his loss against Leonard, he looked great, many tipped him to avenge it, which he practically did past his prime. Ross wouldn't beat a WW version of Hagler either and had his own loss where he was dominanted (Armstrong), except the man who dominated him was actually smaller

Not only does he look that bad ass on film but the fact most struggle to pick anyone to beat him at WW and most here will agree he would spank Ross like a Canelo looking step child

He's a 5division champ spanning 28lbs and lineal in 3 including his 5th division where he's a 2 time champ. His last world title win was 11 years after his first (Ross's last world title win was 4/5years after his first). He fought in possibly the greatest era, pretty much fighting everyone (especially on the way up) and had to beat some very good contenders to get his first title shot

Canzoneri is at least in the same class as Leonard. As is McLarnin.

Canzi is a great fighter, I don't think he's nearly as good as Leonard. I'm not convinced McLarinin was as good as Cuevas from the limited fight's I've seen of him, certainly not in Leonard's class feel free to convince me otherwise

Tell me more about genuine triple crown champions being overrated, please, i'd like to hear more of your boxing knowledge?

They fought bums? Oh, wow, never knew that! It's not like they fought any ranked fighters or ATG's of their own either. Barney Ross is ****, and the depth of your body of evidence proves that.

    Xpertise!~

Canzoneri was a great fighter pp, and is in the same class as Leonard(10-20p4p depending on how you look at it). A complete fighter with a great resume in terms of names beaten and rote accomplishments.

That's right. It's all a massive conspiracy. You are actually more enlightened than those who've seen, studied, and in many instances experienced more than you could ever hope to. There is absolutely no reason for you to have a pause and think this kind of statement through.

The fab four of the 20s'-30's>>>>>Fab four of the 70's-80's overall.

    Watchability is equal.

What, that overall the resume of Canzoneri, Ross, Armstrong, and McLarnin are better than Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, and Duran? I do.

    well played.

    1. They aren't a fab 4 - all they have in common is they're Ross opponents, the fab 4 all fought each other
    2. Duran murders the lot of them
    3. Benitez outboxes all of them although may have close calls with Ross/Armstrong, but still wins if hes not on off day
    4. I hate to think what Hearns/Leonard would do to any of them (bet they are bigger granted)
    5. McLarnin isn't in the same class anyway, I think Cuevas may beat him
    6. You excluded Kid Chocolate and Benitez you, you, you, you!!!!!

    1. Yeah they are. Guys who duked it out, had competitive fights in a general weight range.
    2. No.
    3. No. and if he wins, it's certainly not a schooling.
    4. Armstrong and McLarnin would have very competitive bouts with both, and i think Ross would school Hearns.
    5. McLarnin=Hearns. Some great victories at 147, some bad losses but you can't deny his lb4lb accomplishments
6.:yep:yep:yep Peaked too early and lost their careers along the way. to cocaine and to laziness.
