This is a good question. Not much separating the two's resumes. Golovkin's defeated: Top 10 Matthew Macklin Top 5 Daniel Geale Top 5 Marco Rubio Top 5 Martin Murray Top 5 David Lemiuex Kovalev's defeated: Top 10 Gabriel Campillo Top 5 Nathan Cleverly Top 3 LHW and P4P Top 15 Bernard Hopkins Top 10/15 Jean Pascal 2x *Per TBRB's archives Golovkin has the deeper resume but Kov' has the best single win. Gotta lean towards Golovkin here.
Golovkin is P4P better no doubt. Better offense, better defense, better chin, better footwork, better ring IQ, better balance. You guys are putting way to much credit on the Bhop win, Hopkins was so slow in that fight. When Bhop said he was an alien that didn't age - it was hype, don't believe it! It's impossible that he was anything close to prime.
Okay you re****, I'm not going to have a long drawn out argument with you. Rankings mean far less to me than quality resumes and obvious overall skill level. Bernard Hopkins is EONS better than anyone GGG has come close to facing, even the version that Kovalev fought and Pascal is right below BHop, Cleverly, Mohammedi and Campillo all have better resumes than Stevens, Rosado, Geale and Lemieux and I did a long ass thread defending GGG's resume. So leave me the f*** alone.
Those were the TBRB's rankings. Take it up with them. And Hopkins was p4p ranked by McCarson at Bleacher Report.
I'll get GGG, but i believe he needs to fight tougher opponents, but i will rate Kovalev higher if he beats Ward.
