To be fair though, that was one of the worst lists ever penned.

This is a total outclassing in votes in favor of Sweet Pea. Mayweather is going to have to fight a lot of guys at his real weight class to catch Pernell.

Depends. If they were to fight I would likley pick Mayweather based on his vastly superior conditioning and training. From a career standpoint, I would have to agree that Pernell is the better of the two. I think Sweat Pea would have just as difficult a time breaking through Mayweather's defense as Floyd would his.

I might add that Pea is certianly not "on another level" - they are very very similar fighters with a very close-to-eqaul set of skills. They are two of the best fighters we have ever seen in the sport, both "top teir fighters".

Dont you think those two statements sorta contradict each other?

Prime Sweet Pea had no problem with conditioning...even a faded coked up Sweet Pea still was world class in this respect.
Floyd was a fit as they come, a true athlete..but so was Pea...Floyd packed up shop to often in fights to say he was "vastly" more conditioned then Whitaker, whom was continually moving and dynamic for 12 rounds throughout his career compared to many times where Floyd would just cover up on the ropes.

They were different fighters..I think thats pretty clear. Whitaker showed he was on another level because he consistently showed it against a far superior level of opposition to Floyd. Thats no dig at Floyd, its just Pea is just better, he is one of the most impressive boxers from one of the strongest divisions ever....he deserves that distinction.

Just a thought: I rewatched Pernell Whitaker - Oscar de la Hoya some time ago and I thought that an over the hill Whitaker did at least as good, if not better, against a peak ODLH than a prime Floyd Mayweather did against a faded ODLH, regardless of the official outcomes.

I agree and I think that helps to illustrate the difference between them.
