Mayweather/Casamoyer would have been a great boxing match that I would have loved to see... However, I still give Corrales the edge... Simply, as far as I remember, Diego has never been in danger of losing to the Daniel Seda's, Santa Cruz'z and Kid Diamonds of the world... ((In the case of Santa Cruz, don't bring up age... I got 2 words, Antonio Pitalua.... and he's older...))

Casamayor and it is as close as some people make it seem. I am sure some say Diego bc he passed away.

    Corrales wins:

    Roberto Garcia
    Derrick Gainer
    Angel Manfredy
    John Brown
    Joel Casamayor
    Acelino Freitas
    Jose Luis Castillo

    Casamayor's wins:

    Jong-Hwong Baek
    Roberto Garcia
    Nate Campbell
    Diego Corrales x2
    Jose Santa Cruz
    Michael Katsidis

    It's very close.

I just never thought Casamayor was fast enough with his movements or accurate enough with his punches to really measure up to the top level smooth stylists. He looked smooth, but he just seemed lacking in certain areas that really define the best of that style. Compare him to a guy like Ismael Laguna and he just seems second rate.

And yes, as one other poster said, I'm looking at the big picture when rating them. In the grand scheme of things they just never impressed me that much. Corrales's limitations were obvious, so I don't feel I need to go there. He made for very exciting fights, though.

I'm not sure about that. But it depends how you define "elite" - for me, that means guys like Mayweather, Pacquaio & Hopkins. Casamayor was slightly below that level, a "very good" fighter, rather than an "elite" or "great".

Nicely put, IB. In addition, Casa took two out of three versus Diego, and didn't get beat up until he was well past prime. His previous losses were all debatable. I think Casa gets underrated by some because his style was not as fan friendly as a guy like Corrales.
