I never understand why people make this claim. I can see no argument at all for saying that Hopkins was in his prime when Jones beat him.

Cotto, Clottey, Barrera, Diaz, Maquez, and Hatton were not shot.

De La Hoya was, as was Morales in the 3rd fight, although arguabley not the 2nd.

I sort of agree with what you said though.

I always prefer looking at what a fighter actually achieves as opposed to a subjective judgement on their skills.

So Pacquiao fairly easily for me.

Do you think he was the better fighter as well?

Jones is better. Pacquiao is greater.

Jones has a far better resume thatn Pac. Hill,Toney,Hopkins, Tarver, Griffin, Harding. Pac has feasted on Mayweathers sloppy seconds (De La Hoya and Hatton),a psycologically and physically damaged Cotto, and suddenly he's the fourth greatest fighter to ever live.

Pacquiao is both better and greater.

You appear to think Pacquiao's career began in December 2008?

Cepillo...this would be an interesting thread to repost on the classic thread, I think. You might get an entirely different thread.

No. At this stage, I believe Roy Jones (1993-2003, but specifically 1994-96) at smw was the more effective fighter. If Pacquiao had stayed at 140 and had more fights there, he may have emulated Roy's dominance and insane abilities because he looked just sensational against Hatton, but Pac being Pac moved up to chase bigger fights with better opponents, and even though he does brilliantly there, he is no welterweight. Pac has never looked as good as Roy did for any prolonged period. If he beats Floyd, I'll revise that view, but as of now I say Roy had an edge on ability. He was very special.

I hear you. They won't even tend to admit that Valuev is the greatest heavyweight pugilist of all time. It's a tough crowd there.
