I know a lot of Pac fans didn't watch any boxing until Pacquiao came along, but you guys should at least go back and watch old Roy fights. That is one fighter from the past you would be amazed with as well.

I was a Roy Jones fan before I was a Pacquiao fan.

That doesn't mean RJJ is the better fighter.

    Pacquiao.

The five wins over Morales, Barrera and Marquez overcoming some bad stylistic matchups against great fighters trumps Jones's slate.

Hill was his best win, but he was probably starting to slide having been outpointed by DM pretty clearly..... Toney I'm not all that big on, Hopkins was green despite being nearly 30.

He had all the talent to be one of the very best of all time but his record lacks depth.

    Benn
    Eubank
    Collins

Would have all added plenty of depth, and he'd have been better staying at HW and losing to someone like Byrd and calling it a day there and then.

I grew up watching Hagler and his peers. RJJ is my favorite 90s boxer. Pac is my 00s fave boxer.

I have to go with Pac because to me RESUME trumps all. It is like appreciating a good album versus a good singing voice.

Pac's resume is deeper, considerably deeper. He took on matches that was styllistically not in his favor (the 3 Great Mexicans) and weight classes (ODLH, Cotto) that did not make any sense. I agree that RJJ's beating Ruiz is singularly more impressive than any Pac singular weight jumping, but if you take the whole body of work, Pac's weight jumping is more important.

Pacquiao off resume. Athletic prowess they are even and if I'd give the nod to one or the other I'd probably give it to Roy, but really the Manny that we have now is something truly unbelievable. I just think about a natural 160-168lb fighter whos a clone of Pacquiao and I think that fighter would shred Roy up in a H2H fight. Pacquiao is just something psychotic. If Pacquiao beat Mayweather, it wouldn't even be comparable. In fact if Pacquiao beats Mayweather he'd be the best fighter of our lifetimes. Not even comparable to anything we've seen in decades.

A lot of us first saw RJJ fight, back in the early-mid 1990's.

And some, earlier, back in the '88 Seoul olympics. (Boxing's our best sport for winning a gold medal, so we closely follow the boxing tournament every olympic games.)

Government controlled, free TV station, PTV channel 4 used to show stateside boxing matches (even if many weeks or months late) and beamed it all over the country.

    That's when I first saw Jones v Toney "Somebody's O must Go"

    The early Dela Hoya fights.

    The early Gatti fights.

Angel Manfredy and Ruelas and Joe Hipp and Hamed, Soto, Clay-Bey and all those guys.

Beamed all over the Philippines, once every week night.

That's not including the weekly local boxing matches.

I'm getting tired of reading that "only started watching boxing when Pac came along" line.

    Really am.

A lot of us may not be walking boxing encyclopedias, but give the guys out here a little credit.

Doesn't matter. As of right now RJJ is superior to both.

    Pac got this Hands down.

RJJ got the 90s but through out his career he's not known to take on any comer.

Pac takes on all the top fighters of 2000-2010. Some haters will say he ducks some fights but look closely and you'll find out that, The guys he missed fighting were beaten by Pac's Victim!!!

I know that RJJ was not a favourite of Bert Sugar at all, because he said he never fought a lot of great opposition, but it did not change my appreciation and enjoyment of watching his fights.

He was entertaining to watch. I know he had a farm of fighting roosters and I can kinda see the fighting roosters athleticism and swagger and killer's instict and flamboyance in his game.

Great matches, even if not a super fight.

Pure athleticism wise, I think he's better than Manny.

But Manny has the better record and has more big time fights.

But both are 2 of the most entertaining fighters in the last 25 years.

Are u seriously using Hatton for your argument ?Really who honestly beleived that Hatton had a chance on that fight ?? Come on now .Manny's resume south of 140 is steller but north come on now outside of Cotto who did he really beat ??

Oscar -A shot weight drained Oscar who offered NO FIGHT

Joshua Clottey - The ultimate jouney man at 154 who part times at welter ?

And if resume is what has him head and shoulders above Roy then I guess Marco Antonio Barrera and Eric Morales also have cases for their rankings to be as high as Manny's !
