I think Castillo. He won both fights and is the only man to beat Floyd.

I’d probably say Castillo because he never took a complete ass whooping in his prime the way Corrales did against Floyd.

    Corrales 40-5
    won 1st 33 fights.
lost his last 3, Castillo came in over limit in one of these losses
Notable wins: Beats undefeated Robert Garcia 32-0 takes IBF crown. Stops boxer Gainer & Juuko who was under Roach. Then stopped Angel Manfreddy.

Sparked by Floyd. Splits a rematch with one who would become lineal champ Casamyor. Taking on 35-0 KO artist Freitas was IMO the highlight fight of his career. Losing on all cards, yet forcing a momentum shift showed Diego could beat styles that ranged from Garcia boxer-puncher to Casamayor, counter puncher to Freitas who had one punch power. Dropped Acelino over & over forcing a no mas. Setting him up with Castillo one of the greatest phone-booth firefights ever recorded.

Corrales got caught in a position where he couldn't make weight and couldn't bring any fire power up to handle Clottey or any top foe in that division.

Castillo 66-13. Didn't see any of his 1st 20 or so fights, just know that he got stopped 3 times in his 1st 6 years of boxing, so as a rookie I have to side with Corrales.
1st major win for me is Paez who was about 1/2 decade beyond his prime 15 years into his career. A draw and one win over Stevie Johnston to me was his best win taking the title as well.
Some feel he beat Floyd, oh well. Rematch makes it clear if Floyd had hand issues 1st fight, the 2nd one validate it so as a result few will talk about the rematch. Beat Luzcano, Julio Diaz and a young undefeated Ngoudju. Not sure what to think about his loss to Hatton. Seemed like he was showing up for a check. I forget but I think money was lost on the scales?

Both careers show they maintained status for a good minute, but I will go with Corrales s beating more diverse styles with younger fighters.
Maybe Johnston, Luzcano or Diaz are his best wins.

Castillo got stopped coming at the prescribed weight 1st fight but KO'd Corrales when he came in over weight. Luis may have had more wins or better ones, but also had more losses in between.

Past their primes Corrales made it the distance with Clottey whereas Hatton stopped Castillo with the shot he is known for (to the body) and gets stopped by Provodnikov.
I will go Chico, but not my much.

Castillo, just look at the fights of common opponents, Mayweather and Casamayor

I think Castillo by a fair margin. They both sort of cheated against each other and look at common opponents. Mayweather probably did deserve the “L” vs. Castillo and the re-match was competitive whereas it was a blowout vs. Chico. I scored Castillo-Casamayor even but I’m not sure Chico ever beat Casamayor. At best he was stopped, won by a point, was dominated after doing what Castillo did to him on the scales. Both did next to nothing after they fought each other.

Chico has the Freitas win, Castillo had the Johnston wins. I felt Johnston was the much better boxer and Castillo was the bigger underdog.

Castillo also was a better and more complete boxer.

Chico was my favorite fighter when he was alive but Castillo had the better boxing ability if that’s the question.

They are two different types of fighters and im not going to place one above the other. Both are contemporary greats imo.

You look at the common opponents and say that Castillo is better but when you really dissect their resume, they are even.

There were too many classic moments in Chico fights, i cant say Castillo is superior.
