Lennox has an impressive record, but Ali's is on a different level. He's 5-1 against 3 likely top 10 Heavyweights of all time, 3 of those wins past his true prime. Throw in Patterson, Norton, Lyle, Quarry, Terrell, Shavers, Chuvalo, Ellis, Young, Folley, Bonavena, etc. He has by far the most impressive resume of any single-division fighter in boxing history.

As to who would win in a fight, I'd back Ali every time, but thats quite a bit closer than resumes go.

Head to head I think Lewis would give Ali a bad beating.

Tough to say who has the better resume

Lewis' losses are worse than Ali's, although some of Ali's 'wins' are questionable

Ali is better pound for pound

I think a lot of posters are blinded by Ali's fame and charisma, also he has the benefit of fighting in an earlier era so gets an unfair advantage there. If both fighters had fought in each other's era then Lewis would unanimously be considered greater. Look how highly guys like Sonny Liston are ranked now, its laughable really

    Hmmm...how so exactly?

    It really isn't

Considerably worse when you consider the where they were with their respective careers at the times of the losses

Can you explain this? - they're both heavyweights

I think you might just be blind

Holy ****, just when you thought the over-rating of Lewis had calmed down, we get this sort of insanity. Lewis wasn't even the best HW since Holmes, let alone Ali. And he sure as hell isn't better than Ali in any respect. Ali actually fought the greats in his era when it mattered. And you never saw Ali taken out early by mediocre fighters, not even once - let alone TWICE!

If we were talking about Joe LOUIS, then we would have a great debate. Ali is no worst than the 2nd best heavyweight ever, and to me, Lewis is in no way a top 10 guy. Seriously, how could you put Lewis ahead of any of Louis, Ali, Johnson, Dempsey, Marciano, Foreman, Jeffries, Sullivan, Holmes, Frazier, or even guys like Tyson, Wills, and Charles. He's more on the level of Liston and Patterson in terms of greatness, not that there is anything wrong with that.

Don't make judgements based on race. I'm from the UK and know that Ali is the superior fighter.

Ali has a more in depth record, Ali was better head to head, Ali didn't get sparked out by bums. Ali is greater, no contest.

Well, **** it. I'm biased in favour of Lewis normally, but especially when it comes to Ali, who was a massive ****

As for the pound for pound question, yes they are both heavyweights but there is still a significant weight difference between both fighters in their respective primes. Also Mayweather and Pacquaio get compared p4p but fight in the same division

ask this in 20-30 years and the poll would be a little different! Lewis was a great along with Ali and the poll would be alot closer imo.

People have said that Ali did not get knocked out by bums but lennox has... well sorry guys how long was Ali down against Henry Cooper and the split glove fiasco in the corner.lol. Todays rules erghhhhh KNOCKOUT!!! Come on guys your supposed to know boxing it happens to any fighter on any given day and i'm not even a huge Lennox Lewis fan but he beat EVERYONE he ever faced and in years to come he will be recognised... just not by a few 'i live in a bubble' YANKS!!

I still don't have him higher than ALI due to resume and achievements but Lennox was ****ing awesome just a pity he did not have an american passport!
