Not at all Edward, in fact I'd be surprised if anyone didn't pick Robinson if its their generations boxing era .It was just a little joke my friend.

I started getting into boxing seriously in the mid to late 00s. Prime Jones and Hopkins where a little before my time, so Floyd has to be my pick. Had Pacquiao given Floyd a better fight I might be inclined to pick him, but the argument that Pac would have beaten Floyd 4/5 years early lost a lot of validity the night they fought. It's by no means obsolete, it just doesn't hold as much cadence in the discussion when comparing who was the better boxer of the 2.

Well yes,I suppose its classed as who was active when you was young, who you maybe grew up watching or reading about. And as time goes on and those fighter s retire ,then you get a general idea who were great and good and not so good.

    I
Probably most of that generation getting in to boxing around the same time as yourself would pick Floyd as their best fighter I believe. He remained unbeaten ,became the name of his time .

Holy was a different generation to Pac and Floyd and McClellan was exposed by Benn while Eubank was exposed by Collins, I feel Collins would of given Jones a tougher test than both those guys.

Tyson was far better than Holy in the 90`s, `Vander improved by the time of the 2nd bout with Bowe in `92, that`s when he said he learned how to beat Tyson and he put on all the weight and power also.

Duran was better than Ali in the 70`s, Muhammad was quicker in the 60`s. (pointing to the Williams fight)

I interpreted "your generation" as the time I have followed boxing on and off.

I wouldn't say Benn exposed McClellan. He won a war after nearly being KO'd in the first and some believe that McClellan was carrying a pre-condition into the ring. Benn would also have been a very exciting opponent for Roy, though, but I just feel that McClellan would be more difficult from a stylistic standpoint.

Eubank was aging when he met Collins, so I wouldn't say that he was exposed either. Collins would also be a good opponent, but again I feel it's a styles thing. Eubank was awkward and tricky and had an iron jaw and powerful punch, so you never really knew where you had the guy. Collins was strong as an ox and also had an iron jaw, but less explosive and more predictable, I feel. I can't see him posing much trouble for Roy, but of course we will never know.

Eubank didn`t knock many fighters out at SMW.

tyson didn't even make the '84 olympics boxing team at heavyweight.. and holyfield, a soon-to-be light heavyweight u.s. olympic team representative, slapped him around for his troubles. that's well documented.

and i don't know of many people that would say tyson was the better boxer over holyfield in the 90's.

Good then it's a toss up Ali was exciting and as a kid I saw the Superfight on closed circuit and Ali really was a great fighter and showman but Duran was everything a fighter should be not the intentional showman of Ali his meanness on TV was the real deal and everything machismo about Latin culture so if I can choose 2 but if I have to choose 1 it has to be Ali. In Ali's s 2nd career he seemed magical and it was the perfect storm of media, ability and showmanship he captured the imagination of the world.

Well I started my interest as a kid in the 60's but I tend to agree with that.
