I'm sure this question has been asked before but I'm just curious. Who do you guys are the ATGs of this era and why?
Wlad, make it seem like HW era is weak, while he's just too strong. Mayweather, one if not the best defensive boxer of modern boxing Pacquiao, for his heigh, amazing he had recognized belt in 6 divisions ( 2 of his 8 division world championship are not from major organizations, so I can't say 8 saddly )
2000-2010 Pacquiao, Mayweather, Marquez, Hopkins, Morales, Barrera, Calzaghe, W. Klitschko. 2011-2015 Ward, Rigondeaux, Donaire, Gonzalez, Golovkin, Lara,
Can we add Toney and Jones or are they not a part of this era? I'm not so sure about Lara. Carl Froch has a better claim and he isn't even the best fighter in his weight divisions era. Put Lara in that mid eighties light middleweight era and he probably doesn't do so well.
Toney and Jones belong more to the 90s. Carl Froch deserves to be in the p4p currently, but not ATG. Two guys who might deserve mention which I left out would be Vitali Klitschko, who doesn't have as deep a resume as his brother, and Sergio Martinez who you can argue deserves GGGs spot on my previous list.
Yer I don't think Froch is an ATG. Martinez is a tough one, his Chavez Jr victory may get better with time, we'll see. he probably doesn't benefit from Macklin's dubious draw against Sturm. Unifying 2 titles at 37 would have been a nice accomplishment to add to a very impressive resume. His only blemishes in a 14 year period were both questionable. I'm yet to watch the Citron fight, but there's a consensus that sergio was robbed and I had him beating Williams in their first fight 114-113, man that was a fun fight.
martinez probably needed a big win or two more, the cintron fight was fuking outrageous, he got a ko then the ref decided to restart the fight, then the judges screwed him too.

I really recommend for you to see the cintron fight. Ive been watching boxing since the 80's, and honestly that had to be one of the biggest robberies in the history of the sport. Martinez actually knocked him out in the 7th or 8th right before the end of the round, the ref counted out cintron but for some ridiculous reason he allowed cinntron to go back to his corner and resume the fight. It was so odd to witness.
Mayeather and Manny. Wlad is benefitting from a mediocre heavyweight division. He's the Lewis of today. Lewis's ATG status also inflated.
