Here's who I think would beat him, some will find it funny because they don't ge his vulnerabilities fully yet for some reason - Calzaghe, Kessler, Andrade, Bute, Froch, Braehmer, Inkin & Abraham. All of these guys have good timing and either have a punch or great skill, the type of shots that they'd be able to get in on Pavlik flush would take him out. Pavlik is hittable, has not cleared his chin beyond reasonable doubt to me and could easily be outboxed by a superior boxer/counter-puncher. His power will also lessen as he moves up against larger men and their power will become more evident. Andrade would be one of the easier choices, as he'd back Pavlik up and take easily be able to land his best shots, rendering Pavlik at a stylistic oddity. Andrade should be favoured over Taylor as well, Taylor doesn't match up well against pressure fighters of a high workrate if you'd note his past. And please stop with bull**** like 'Kessler/Pavlik would be close', these guys are leagues apart. Pavlik/Bute however WOULD indeed be a very competitive match up.
I dont think Pavlik could be beat at this time. Maybe at a heavier weight class. but pavlik Is a complete fighter. Calzagne would be the best opponent but it all depends on how much weight kelly would gain! I dont see anyone else beating him anytime soon after the way he looked last night, sure it was against lockett but lockett is suppose 2 be a good fighter and kelly dominated. Keep Doing what ur doing Kelly For YOUNGSTOWN!!
Only guys I really see possessing a chance are the obvious of Kessler and Calzaghe. Other than I see a few who would put up a good competitive fight but would certainly lose. Kelly Pavlik is the man right now and I really wish so many would doubt him and just enjoy the guy cause he consistently puts up worthwhile performances for us the fans.
:-( He would brutally KO all of those guys other than Calzaghe, Kessler, and Bute. Damn, why do you hate Kelly Pavlik so much? Denis Inkin? Gimme a ****in break.
Arthur Abraham..Kelly beats the living crap out of him Calzaghe...Calzaghe bounces in and out and slaps his way to UD. Kessler.. He has good fundamentals and a quick right hand but I dont think he is tough and has heart and I see Pavlik getting hurt early but fighting hard and beats the brakes out of Kessler late. But at 160...nah...nobody.
joe cal or kessler neither are forgone conclusions as kelly is a concusive puncher. Saying that he hasn't got the slickest of styles but he makes the best of what he has got. A good solid fighter, but i hope if he gets beat by calzaghe people wont suddenly start saying pavlik was exposed etc. etc. etc. Also if he beats calzaghe i hope he gets the props for doing what 45 others couldn't, and not saying joe was to old etc. Like people say when hatton beat tszyu about time fighters get the respect they deserve :deal
well put J.R. Pavlik is the man, and is going 2 be the man for a long time to come. He only gonna fight about 5 more years. I want him 2 fight the best fighters that he can. Hopkins, im sorry but he is no match for pavlik at this time. maybe 5 years ago but not now. Didnt pavlik put a hurtin on taylor? and taylor beat hopkins? pavlik wants all the belts, and will get them. He is a skinny boy, but god he can hit. Larry merchant said he is the hardest hitting middleweight he has every seen. That says something
I think Calzaghe would school him to be honest - too smart. The Kessler fight would be the most interesting, and exciting, a toe to toe war. Froch stylistically could be a problem, but this is perhaps the one thing I agree with Frank Warren on, in that Carl is a big talent, but at 30, what has he done other than talk and beat a series of late replacements? Plenty of early, dominating KO's look great on paper but once you read between the lines.......
Joe Calzaghe would beat him. I think a fight with Tarver would be interesting on account of styles, though it could turn into a bit of a snooze fest last few rounds.
If Abraham is so good where has he been fighting at, against who? Is the Miranda fight his Measuring stick for greatness? Why don't any of those top export's fight eachother? Pavlik could lose just like everyone else.. I just don't see any of the names above doing it besides a Joe Calzaghe.
Calzaghe would school KP. He is one dimensional (albeit still very good) - the key to beating Calzaghe is to switch tactics every couple of rounds to keep HIM guessing rather than the other way round - ala first four rds vs Kessler, before Mikkel went missing for six rounds!
