Who do you think GGG will fight next?

But it is a robbery when it always goes to the same guy. As you know, i had GGG winning both, although both were extremely competitive. If it was a win and a draw for GGG then that would be fair enough in my eyes, but a win and a draw for Canelo is a robbery and a predictable one. Canelo won a lopsided fight vs Cotto that should have been an extremly close fight. Cotto left the ring with no post fight interview because once he heard the decision he realized he never even had a chance.

The problem is the first match was in no way shape or form a clear GGG win. The first 3 rounds were pretty clear Canelo rounds. GGG did next to nothing in any of those rounds while being outboxed. Rounds 4-6 were much better rounds for GGG, as he started to land more punches, but those rounds are still by no means easy rounds to score. They were each close and debatable. To give GGG rounds 4, 5 and 6 is to give close round after close round to the same guy. You could find reasons to give each of the first 6 rounds to Canelo. That can't be said about GGG, as rounds 2 and 3 GGG was thoroughly outboxed. Though after a much closer round 4, in the 5th round even though GGG was being outlanded over the first half, he did step up and land some eye catching shots down the stretch starting with that punch with Canelo on the ropes when he shook his head. That punch wasn't heavy but it did land clean and was eye catching and it made Canelo think twice about staying on the ropes forever, picking off shots and just toying with GGG as he was up till that point. GGG didn't have that kind of sustained success in the 4th round, but you can understand why the judges scored it for him just because he did better and landed more than he did in first 3 rounds. In the 5th Canelo was in control of most of the round, but the way GGG finished is reason to score it for him.

You can make your argument that GGG won rounds 10 and 11, in round 10 Canelo had a big first minute then Canelo went on his bike making it hard for GGG to land and equal that first minute. Your argument in the 10th might be that Canelo was simply too negative in the final 2 minutes with GGG endlessly chasing him. But the brilliance of that round was Canelo knew he could do that after the big first minute he had. You can't just Willie Pep a round from start to finish and expect to win it, but when you come out gunz blazin like canelo did makes it hard to score it against him even after being so negative down the stretch if you're really looking at it just in terms of clean punches landed. Canelo's movement over the last 2 minutes in round 10 made it impossible for GGG to equal what Canelo did in the first minute. Round 11 I think you can argue was a good round for both men, they both had their moments and we might disagree who edged it but I think you would recognize that it was at least arguable for either guy.

Just for the sake of argument, if we can agree that 4-6 are each close and hard to score and 10 and 11 are also hard to score, then really you have about 3 clear rounds for each fighter, rounds 1-3 for Canelo and rounds 7-9 for GGG. I would argue Canelo had more than 3 clear rounds with round 4 and 12 being pretty clear if not 10 and 11 as well but I could understand if you scored some of those for GGG. GGG certainly outworked Canelo in rounds 7-9 but still Canelo landed the most eye catching shot in each of those rounds. While neither guy did much in the first round, GGG didn't land anything noteworthy enough to argue that giving Canelo the first is unreasonable. So if we give 1-3 to Canelo, then 7-9 to GGG, then it comes down to who won 4-6 + 10-12. If you want to make the argument that GGG won each round 4-6, I could say Canelo won each round 10-12 and you have a draw that way. But to give a majority of rounds 4-6 / 10-12 to GGG, when in actuality those were each good rounds for Canelo, it's hard to make the argumnet that it was any kind of a robbery even if you edged more close rounds to GGG. All that would be is a close fight that was a draw instead of a narrow win.

 

It was competitive but the issue was never in any real doubt. I don't understand the argument that the judges had it too wide. First of all, Cotto pretty much mailed it in before the bout even took place, as he refused to pay the sanctioning fees which was apparently $300,000 set by the WBC.

This created a situation where he wasn't even eligible to retain the title, this may have played a role in how Cotto fought or even how the judges scored it. But just judging the bout straight up, it's ridiculous to complain about the scores because there's almost no way anyone could argue Cotto did enough to win. However wide you think it should have been, Canelo was the clear winner so there was no controversy there. You describing it as "extremely" close just doesn't add up. If anything Canelo was showing Cotto too much respect and didn't really try to hurt him and out of respect for Cotto was just content to outbox him and win from the outside without trying to take him out as he's done to other younger more active fighters.

 

We can debate it my card I had em sweeping all 3 and 3 of the first 4 considering you say you have ggg 10 & 11 if so I take it you had a wide fight for GGG...
in my opinion even if you had GGG winning if your score is anything besides 7-5 you’re being bias and disingenuous, 7-5 ggg, 6-6, 7-5 Canelo we can debate anything other that that and I can’t take you seriously.

 

If he can't get a rematch with Canelo he will likely fight another random unknown C level European fighter with less than 30 fights, demolish him within 7 rounds, then laugh on his way to the bank at how easily he keeps takes advantage of dazn.
