Juan Manuel Marquez, I should say. Both these guys are still active, weirdly, which is not something I would have guessed in '05 by which time both men had met Pacquiao. I always considered that Marquez had the better uppercut of the two, I mean against Diaz....that's just about the best showcase for that punch in modern boxing, I felt/feel. But I'm re-watching Morales-Pacquiao and I have to say, Morales uppercut is beastly. It was also the punch Pacquiao mentioned specifically after the fight. Thoughts?
I'd have always picked marquez without too much consideration as his punch variety is awesome whereas morales is more of a specialist with the straighter shots imo.
I agree with the OPs statement that Marquez's uppercut to end Diaz's night was the best of the modern era. I'd say it's one of the very best K.Os at the top level as well. A beauty. I go Marquez, one of his main weapons and a great one. Brilliant all round punching form to be honest, not to say 'El Terrible' wasn't brilliant as well.
Marquez's uppercut is brilliant and it's his best punch, so I'd have to say Marquez. Not that Morales had a bad uppercut, it's just Marquez's is top notch.
Agreed. Sometimes he throws right uppercut from a distance which is a very hard and dangerous thing to do but Marquez's punching techique is so good that he makes it work. Good KO. Ibeabuchi's left uppercut/hook against Byrd was great too.
This content is protected Marquez, for me. I also would've favoured him to win in a legendary classic, had they fought, off-topic. ...Also, no one freakout, but sometimes Marquez's long-rangers remind me a bit of Larry Holmes' beauty of a long-range right uppercut.
Marquez.Better technique, versastile and complete usage of the punch. From the outside, the closest thing in the sport today to Kalule's uppercuts.:yep For a one off powershot Morales probably just as good when he sets one up, but his straight right was his best shot imo.
JMM. Like all the fighters trained by Nacho....he has a perfect uppercut, especially the left one......
They use it a bit differently, JMM can throw his quicker and as a counter, Morales needs to plant his feet more to get a good a shot off, overall I'd go with Marquez. These are imo 2 of the better examples of Morales use of the uppercut [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78H7rQg6hkk[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUcPIefr97Y[/ame]
