Most underrated fighter at the weight: Lamont Peterson.

The guy is dying for another chance to crack the division, In defeat he showed me he has all it takes to become a champion at 140. He just met a man on a mission. He recovered and battled bravely although outclassed he dug in and gave Bradley all he could handle but Timothy upped the levs and left him in the dirt. He's well schooled, strong, has good ring IQ.

Nice on the eye to watch as a fan and i think once he gets another chance he will take it and show people that he really has something. Fundamentally strong i think that's what can take him to a title. Trains like a beast as well.

 

I admire your zeal for Ajose despite having done sweet FA to earn it. He looked crap last time I saw him.

Considering Alexander lost to Kotelnik on any reasonable scorecard and that Holt lost to Kaizer Mabuza, getting beaten up before he quit, it's hard to understand your rankings.

And it's shocking to leave Khan out of the top five. And Maidana?

 

You're talking to a guy that rates Ajose/Mayweather Jr as '50/50 fight'.

He lives in his own little world.

 

Id put Bradley as number one but I think Khan could potentially overtake him within the next 12 months.

 

Put it this way, if all the big players at light welter fought eachother, Timmy Bradley would have the most wins as he's the most adaptable. Amir would come second as the only one that beats him is Bradley IMO.

I would have Alexander third, but depending on how quickly Ortiz matures mentally he could overtake him, because all the physical tools are there with Victor. I agree with Mandanda, Peterson is underrated and has the tools to give people like Devon problems, his lack of athleticism lets him down though.

 

He is in training for the WBC final eliminator fighting Ali Chebah in Algeria next month. The winner (Ajose) becomes Alexander's mandatory contender.

 

Sorry I call it as I see it. In my opinion I am not even convinced that there are guys on the domestic 140 pound scene that Khan is better than. He is good but has some real fundamental weaknesses. As for Ajose last fight its difficult to look great when the other guy does not want to fight hence you get him out of there before he stinks up the whole joint which he did.

 

I'm not convinced at all by Ortiz.

Just don't think he has it to be honest.

 

140 pounds is a real quality division. Devon Alexander and Timothy Bradley are going to be difficult to beat.

 

Can I just add former WBA Pan African Champion, former South African Champion, former IBF Intercontinental champion, the IBF's no 1 contender and future IBF champion of the World Kaizer Mabuza to the list?


For me it's Timmy. Bradley's one of those fighters who maybe doesn't look flashy and for that people underrate him. But he is the most complete fighter in the division. He has a good jab inside and outside, he can box you or he can pressure you intelligently and take your advantages away. He shows great determination and adaptability and whilst lacking power I think he punches hard enough to earn someone's respect. That big head also comes in handy .

But all of that doesn't really matter. I just can't wait till these lot settle it in the ring. IMO Bradley will beat Alexander twice, Khan will beat Maidana and will hopefully take on Ortiz (assuming he beats Mabuza) and then we'll see the winners fight :happy.

 

Not sure Khan will beat Maidana. He needs to box not fight flawlessly to win and I don't think he can.

 

Olu, if you call it as you see it, then you have to rate Khan pretty highly right now. Let's compare:

Khan beat Kotelnik easily
Maidana lost to Kotelnik
Alexander struggled with Kotelnik

So, straight off, style-wise and achievement wise, Khan is better. He di show against Kotelnik that he could box a disciplined, focused fight for 12 rounds. Ok, Maidana's a lot wilder, but I also think he's chinny. And considering the problems he had with a worn-down Corley... this will be an easy night's work for Khan.

I really don't get the fuss about Maidana.

 

Isn't this like, his fourth eliminator?

 

Full credit to the lad for beating Kotelnik but styles make fights. If they both fight the way I believe they are going to Maidana will stop Khan. As for Holt, Alexander, Ajose and Bradley forget it.
