Who do you think is the GOAT at Heavyweight?

I think Muhammad Ali is the GOAT, but I believe Tyson at his best is the best Heavyweight of all time.
I believe he'd have started the betting favoutite over anyone from any era.
I know lots of older guys whom I respect, say Louis is the best ever, but i havent seen muvh of him

 

For me, Ali takes the crown as GOAT - the significance of his victories, the way he proved so many people wrong on so many occasions, his overall ability and boxing skill, to me deserves nothing less than recognition as being the best of all time. I'd also like to mention that the era of Ali's career was without a doubt in my mind the single toughest era of all.

In my opinion, head-to-head Lennox Lewis in his prime would beat any other heavyweight in their prime. His record was astonishing, his resume is superb and considering the fact that he beat every single man that he ever faced speaks volumes. On top of that, not only did he avenge his two defeats, he absolutely destroyed both opponents. The era of Lewis was probably the second toughest, with the likes of Bowe, Holyfield, Tyson, Golota, Bruno, V. Klitschko to name a few.

Joe Louis is an interesting one for me. You can say all you want about the bum of the month club, but the fact is that those "bums" were in fact top contenders (with the exception of a few - but who hasn't got a few "bums" on their records?)

For me, the GOAT list is as follows:

1. Muhammad Ali
2. Lennox Lewis
3. Joe Luois

Jack Johnson: (Possibly tied with Joe Louis)

Johnson was Muhammad Ali, but back in a time when most outspoken black men got lynched.

He broke the color barrier in he sport, and even married a white woman. - Twice.

He fought everyone there was, and so completely dominated most of them, even the top-ranked fighters, that he would play with them in the ring. He had to hold back so as not to KO an opponent in the first few rounds, which if the opponent was white might literally cause a riot.

He held the HW title for SEVEN YEARS straight.

He lost the title in 1915 to Jess Willard, in a fight that went TWENTY SIX rounds.

At the age of FORTY EIGHT, his record was 48-6 with 33 KO's. - He would have fought more, but for several years he was on the run from the law due to an unjust arrest.

He was also an inventor, and held a patent for a type of wrench still in use today.

He dressed better than Sergio Martinez.


He also never called any other black man a gorilla, and he never bit anyone's ear off.

 

Ken Norton also actually beat him, but Ali had a very well-connected management team. He got a number of gift decisions, and all sort of help in the ring. He should have lost points countless times for holding behind the head & punching, but no ref ever dared confront him.

- Also note that Foreman was counted out in just 8.5 seconds, and was up, lucid, and ready to go.

Ali was very, very good, and as tough as they come, but he also had a LOT of "help."

What Ali said Frazier was wrong. It was promotion and trash talk it happened all the time like it does today. Ali was never malicious unlike some and apologised, but he was wrong. People make mistakes and Ali made a human one.

Liston has been covered. Watch the Foreman fight he was on his last legs. Foreman is a great man and I got one of his grills! He deserves every cent he has earnt. Foreman has never queried the decision because he was beat. Another round and he would have been KO again.

That night in Zaire saw probably the greatest hitting heavyweight in boxing history downed by the not only the greatest HW in history but the greatest sporting icon in World Sport. Foreman was never the same again and we lost 70% of the prime George that slayed Norton and Frazier that night.

I love Marciano but I gotta say no one brought power like Foreman. No one. Ali is on a different planet. He a'int human.

Foreman is a great man but Ali on that night was the best. Its only in dispute because it ranks as probably Ali's greatest victory and against a man who many including me regard as the greatest beast in HW boxing history.

Ali beat Foreman at the age of 34... Foreman would 20 years later regain the title... That says enough..
