Nino Benvenutti. Never talked about really but a borderline great I think with some good names on his ledger.

You just made Rumsfeld's point for him.

I don't have him as a stylish fighter in the vein of McCallum, Toney, JMM etc, but rather a cerebral winner. Like a cleaner version of Hopkins. I loved Ward's attitude.

Of the last 30 years its Andre Ward without a doubt. If people didn't know any better they'd think he was the lower weight version of Wilder the way people consistently rag on him.
A trained eye certainly helps in appreciating his greatness.

Good pick, another fighter that suffered from living in an era of giants.

Larry Holmes, a very good fighter coming along after the golden era of Ali Foreman and Frazier, bashed a shell of Ali up then was followed by Tyson. I thought he was great but he never captured the imagination like the clutch of fighters before and the one after

Although Jimmy Wilde seems to be highly rated as a flyweight, he doesn't seem to get much love on pound for pound lists.
I always thought Esteban deJesus was a tad underrated, but he seems to be getting some welcome attention on this forum recently.
I also think Choynski warrants more praise than he receives. That may also be the case for Loughran or Ike Williams.

I honestly think he's a fighter that history has kind of taken back. He was certainly a more well known in times past as opposed to know, where as now you really don't hear much about the "Mighty Atom".

Lack of film might be one of the issues.

Most of the fighters mentioned on this thread are discussed often on this forum.
    They are appreciated.

People having been talking up Andre Ward as the "pound for pound number one" or something like that these last a couple of years (and he was rated just behind Mayweather in that regard for a couple years before that).
    That's hardly underappreciation.

Of all time? Impossible for me to say, as I dont know **** about boxing, especially about the earlier times

That being said, one person who I think is quite underappreciated is Meldrick Taylor. Shame what happened to him though, boxing is a brutal, cruel sport, thats for sure

Won Olympic Gold at 17 years of age, stopped Buddy McGirt and famously was 2 seconds away from the glory in the legendary match against undefeated Julio Cesar Chavez. Blistering speed, great boxer too (when he didnt go to brawl mode), fun fighter to watch. Didnt have the greatest power though, sadly. Its such a shame that he continued his career for so long, he was shot and brain damaged but somehow they let him continue.
