ya but i think its only a matter of time until anderson has theat LHW belt, and then he will be the first to hold in two weight divisions at the same time. if gsp decides to move up BJ can also accomplish that feat, i dont see gsp winning a title at 185 so hes outta the picture. its gonna come down to anderson and BJ, id give the edge to anderson if he can get the LHW title, hell the guy says he wants to give HW a shot

Fedor's gonna need more than just one win to be considered the greatest ufc fighter. Fedor will end up as the greatest MMA fighter but if he wants to end up as the best ufc fighter ever then he needs to sign with ufc and start beating all the top heavyweights which he could do.

Its between BJ and Silva. Right now, Ill give a slight edge to BJ because theres just no one at 155 that can come close. You wont see a Lutter vs. Silva kinda match at LW with Penn. Silva I agree has the greatest potential multi division wise. But I still want to see him with a guy like Chael because that would be intriguing. With BJ theres no intrigue at LW.

GSP since he has the most top 10 win of the three and his level of opposition in fantastatic. BJ has a chance too since he has that great win over Hughes.

Silva isnt the mix for the moment for me, I don't rate his victory over Griffin as great as others people do, sure it was a nice display of skill but Griffin is tailor made for him. But his victory vs Henderson is incredible. If he becomes the champ at 205 than he would have a better argument than the others two.

BJ and Silva are proven P4P but my issue with GSP is the calibre of his opposition is really very impressive. GSP has beaten the absolute best 155 and 170 have to offer now and possibly in the history of the sport!

 And why wasn't Griffin "tailor made" for Shogun? I used to think you were a good poster, but you are such a GSP nuthugger its ridiculous!

How about 4/10 of GSP's wins in since '05 are against natural lightweights (Sherk/Serra/Penn), 2 of them are against Hughes, and the other 4 are decision victories where he used superior wrestling to grind guys out.

Now Anderson is the guy who needs to win a title at 205lbs to surpass GSP in P4P??? :rofl:rofl Anderson has demolished Franklin/Henderson/Forrest, 2 of those guys are former LtHeavy Champs (Pride/UFC), the other Franklin has had succes at Lt Heavy and Franklin and Hendo are former Middlewight champs (Pride/UFC). He also destroyed Marquart, a top 5 guy.

Look man GSP is amazing, I really think he is unbeatable at WW, but to say that Anderson has to win a title at 205lbs to surpass GSP in P4P is just a little crazy

You can hardly say 4/10 are against 155 pounders. They are the best 155 pounders of this generation and possibly ever. They are also proven at 170.

Alot of people are spouting this superior wrestling stuff but I'm sure kimuras and armbars are from BJJ. Just because GSP isn't doing it from his back doesn't mean it isn't BJJ.

These 3 guys are frightening. It's hard to set them apart. It depends on what mood you are in.

    I currently rank them:

    1. GSP
    2. Silva
    3. Penn

I agree that if Silva moved up to 205lbs and won the title, he'd take the top spot.

I'm not discrediting his wins at all, but in a P4P debate, he had significant size advantages over Sherk/Penn/Serra:deal

I agree that GSP has had the stiffer opposition and is therefore the #2 p4p fighter right now (right behind Fedor).

Finishing fights is important, definitely, but it's not as if GSP is winning these controversial decisions or something. He is usually winning every second of every round.

Penn, for me anyway... but lets be honest, depending on who your personal favorite is you could put forward a reasonable argument for any of these guys.

I'd say Penn at the moment because of the titles at two weights and dominance over the lightweight division. Then I'd go with Silva just over GSP because he is dominant and has wins at 205. GSP falls behind slightly imo but he is still up there purely because of the quality of opposition in his reign.

However, like some have stated, GSP is unlikely to beat Anderson I think, while Anderson could very well win the LHW title, so it's a bit of a two horse race imo.

    BewareofDawg...
Griffin was tailor made for Anderson Silva , and give me a break for Shogun, that was the second worst shogun in a fight after the one vs Coleman.. i'm maybe a GSP nuthuggers but if you don't think that, Griffin was not the PERFECT matchup for Silva at 205, you are crazy.
Put GSP vs Rich Franklin and that's a good matchup for GSP and that would be the same type of win. Good win on paper, but a nice name who was not greatly matched vs one guy. And what does it change that it was 4 decision that he grinded opponent...????
Decision are victory. Georges St-Pierre don't finish as much as BJ Penn ok, but tell me one thing, when GSP fought Fitch, Penn, Alves and Hardy...and when Penn fought Sherk, Florian and Sanchez.. who seemed to dominate MORE? And the bunch of name I said for GSP are better compt in my opinion. Sanchez nearly lost to Stevenson and Guida for god sake...

That's my humble opinion of course.

    And offcontext
what's this bull**** about Serra being a NATURAL LIGHTWEIGHT?
I don't just point what you say but I read this alot...GSP GOT KOED BY A LW...
Anderson Silva used to fight at WW and I don't hear..Henderson got choked by a WW!
Nate Marquartd did fight a couple time at 155..so is he a natural LW?
Matt Serra is a thick man, he wouldnt be able to do 155 ..He is a legit top 10 WW.

GSP, because he is still very young and has so much more of a career ahead of him. Also, the greatness of Penn helps GSP as he defeated Penn very badly in their last fight. Penn went back down to lightweight and is a absolute dominant monster there. Everytime BJ has a great dominating performance it reflects well on GSP as he is Penn's conqueror. Also the welterweight division has been so stacked over the years. Alves is just a tremendous striker and kicker and Koschek is a great wrestler and overall athlete. Hughes was the greatest welterweight ever and Karlo the best judo player to ever fight MMA. GSP whipped them all and very decisively as well as a host of other terrific fighters like the grinder Fitch. No other division comes close to producing these master MMA fighters so my nod goes to GSP with Silva as a very close second.

BJ Penn dominated Sanchez better than GSP ever beat anyone, except maybe Trigg, I think. It was absolutely perfect.
