Who do you think wins: Melendez-Edgar unification?

Edgar for me , im not a massive fan of Melendez , i think he's had somewhat of an easy ride to be considered top 5 in the world , i rate his ability which sounds condradictry but i just dont think he's fought enough of the worlds best @55 to be compared to Edgar and the likes .

Has he got the tools to beat the likes ?? for me yes , but it remains to be seen , i personally think he's a 145 lb'er too , these 155 lb monsters would IMO roll through Melendez , but again thats debatable

 

I agree that even my boy melendez would have trouble against frankie as frankie has an amazing chin, his wrestling is constantly improving and he has infinite gas tank. I think melendez should fight maynard first then fight frankie because melendez's jujitsu hasnt been tested yet. However considering the power melendez has he may be able to tko frankie if melendez is on top. The heart that frankie showed in the gray maynard fight i think just proved that frankie should never be counted out.

 

I cant say much about Melendez's jiujitsu but I think Frankie is slighty better everywhere slighty better hands, alittle bit faster, abit better of a wrestler. Id pick Edgar by decision but it wouldnt be easy at all. Melendez is legitmate top 5 on ability and IMO his resume is good enough.

 

Gray Maynard.

 

Edgar will **** Melendez, he may not stop him but he'll beat him the **** up. Maynard and Edgar, these are elite wrestling studs with very good stand ups. Thats the cream skillset of MMA past, present and future.

Maynard will destroy Melendez, this guy is an animal and huge for a LW. Shows what heart Edgar had to beat Gray.

 

I think Melendez has the skillset to beat Edgar.

Melendez' changes levels very well with his striking and is really fluid in transitioning from the striking game to takedowns.

This isn't like BJ Penn where Penn mixes things up standing straight up and down leaving his head stationary.

50-50 fight. Melendez is an all rounder with quality endurance. He has quality striking but grapples with the Diazs, Shields etc all year round.

 

Remember what Maynard did to Edgar in the first round of their last fight? Well, Gilbert has better striking and can actually finish a fight. For me Melendez is the no. 1 lightweight in the world.

 

At the moment there is absolutly no justification for a statement like that :deal

 

i would just say I would pay too see that fight.
