Melendez hasn't had to fight BJx2,Maynard,Sherk,Griffin,Miller,Fisher and Franca.

To me the #1 LW is easily between Maynard and Edgar. Nobody has yet to beat Maynard. and he has beaten edgar,Florian,Diaz,Huerta,Miller,Siver, clementi.

those are 2 very impressive resumes, Melendez has a great record and is on a role but it seems he spealizes in beating up Japenese fighters.

True edgar do have a better resume and beating bj penn twice is unbelievable. Only GSP is able to do that before and gsp is one of the best ever.

But i do like melendez chance since he does have good jiujitsu and has knockout power.

I think Gilbert will crush Edgar the guy has unbelievable cardio and sets a ferocious pace I see Frankie wilting under the pressure.

    Melendez in 3 for me.

Edgar has his hands full with Maynard at the moment (someone he has failed to beat on 2 occasions). Then there's the whole Pettis thing to deal with, and Pettis has to get past Guida, who may well get a title shot if he beats Pettis. People have been screaming (rightfully) for Miller to get a title shot as well. This is not even taking into consideration the Guillards, Wimans, Lentz's, Sotiropoulii and Siver's of the division.

By the time we get around to seeing a unification bout the title picture could be very, very different.

I certainly hope so. Pettis would be a fantastic champion.

He beat him in the second fight IMHO, Its close though give the guy credit.

Edgar is one of those unique athlete, now im not going to compare him to Bones because no one in MMA compares to Jon Jones as a specimen at the moment. But Edgar has a very high IQ and is very adaptive. He also has a heart of a champion. He will beat Gray clearly in the third fight just because, he progresses incredibly fast. Just think of the 1st BJ and Maynard fight as compared to the 2nd one.

Melendez hands although powerful, look sloppy to me. I think Edgar can take advantage of that and work the jab on Melendez's face :yep

Melandez, by decision. Frankie is gonna be hard to beat but I think Melandez is more well rounded. We all know that Frankie has a good wrestling and boxing game. But on the feet Melandez can mix up strikes better than Frankie, and on the ground. I think Melandez has a way better ground game, and not scared to use it. Just my opinion.

I think this fight will stay standing just like the bj-edgar fight. I don't think edgar would want to take a chance getting caught with submission against melendez. I do give melendez that puncher's chance if he connects on frankie he could defenitely hurt him.

But i think frankie's boxing is better and he is much faster than melendez. Hope this fight happen cuz it will be a good match up.
