These are the two best fights to be made in boxing right now.

    Who wins?

    Andre Ward vs. Sergey Kovalev,

    Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Guillermo Rigondeaux

Both of these fights are very competitive. No one would be wrong in saying they're 50/50 fights. I've given a slight edge to one fighter in both fights though.

I'm a big Kovalev fan (who isn't?), and I'm far less of a Ward fan for a lot of reasons. That being said, I have to give Ward a slight edge in this fight. I feel that if there were ever a boxer with the style to give Kovalev problems, it is Ward.

I don't think it's possible to outbox a guy like Kovalev on the outside. However, we've yet to see him in a really rough and dirty fight with pressure in and out of clinches. I don't think he's well equipped for this kind of fight with his build and style, and Andre is very capable of making it that kind of fight. Ward is very sound defensively, and Kovalev is often susceptible to counters. Ward cannot fight this fight on the outside; if he does, he loses. It'll be a classic battle of range control, and I think Ward is simply too skilled at dictating an inside fight.

With all that said, Kovalev is the real deal. He's at the top of the p4p punchers list and has excellent skills to go with. He is very, very good. That's why this is such a close and great matchup.

Rigondeaux vs. Lomachenko is much harder to break down, but follows a common thread as the other fight. Rigo will want to keep the fight on the outside, and Loma will try to push the action.

Lomachenko has a much greater variety of punches he likes to use, and use in combination. Rigo is too left hand dependent for my liking. He uses his right almost exclusively as a range finder or to set traps. This is NOT good against a fighter as defensively sound as Lomachenko.

Rigo has an advantage in speed, Loma seems to have a clear advantage in chin. The question is really whether you think Loma can get to a Rigo who has looked more and more vulnerable. If Loma employs similar agressive pressure tactics like he did against GRJ, and like were done against Rigo by Cordoba, he should win.

    What do you think, ESB?

sidenote: there are FIVE gold medals between these two matchups

Kovalev TKO7 Ward, too strong and hardhitting. Ckinchiing his lead had won't work because he clubs you senseless with the other, and he's a very good technical and presice boxer from the outside.

Loma vs Rigo can go either way. Form of the day decides I guess.

Ward has never faced a technical boxer with skills of Kovalev, and the power of Kovalev. Kovalev also has a size advantage, so the result would be Kovalev KO Ward in the 7th round.

Kovalev by KO or TKO. SOB Ward said that Kovalev was too big for him which is an excuse. Ward also refused to fight Stevenson at 175 or 168. Ward wants to fight small fighter.................it's time for Ward to go up in weight.............................Ward is a light heavyweight and he knows it.................

Lomachenko is fast, much stronger, he would most likely knock Rigo out or win by UD......................
