1-4, 8-9 to Mayweather 5-7, 10-12 to Castillo. Both fighters had points dedcuted, making this fight a 113-113 draw in my eyes. Could make an argument for 8-4 fight for either fighter, because there were a couple of close rounds ( 5 and 11 spring to mind). Hardly a robbery, though.
One thing that I find funny about the people that argue for mayweather here is that they say that he blocked all of JLC's punches. Compu box says otherwise, mayweather's broken ribs say otherwise but they feel as though saying it enough will make it true.
I have watched this fight alot of times and everytime i score it Castillo wins by 2 points. He definately outworked Floyd. I remember during the fight one of the commentators said that Floyd was such a favorite that it was as if Castillo was just selling his belt because of the money he got. I always thought something fishy went on in that fight.
your synopsis of the issue dose not fit , Floyd broken rib was more then likely cause buy one shot , and does not indicate that JLC landed many more then that . funny how compu box is the **** when the point are against Floyd , but full of **** when compu box reports that Floyd land 60% or above in his bouts. there is still that fact that JLC is a very slow starter and gave up the first 5 or 6 round , the second half of the fight that JLC did come was by no means dominate but very close .. what stick in my mind is the first 6 round that floyd won cleanly , and the last 6 round, that JLC made it very competitive and won a 5 out of 6 with some being very close.
I see your point if you go by punchstats..but castillo didn't land many clean punches on floyd that round. If you go back and watch it you will see floyd scoring the more effective punches in round 11. But it was a close round and if given to castillo the scores would be 7-5 castillo.
I did go back and watch it, and PBF had cleaner punches that round. As a matter of fact, the announcers said it was a great round for PBF because of the meaningful punches he landed, but Lederman gave the round to Castillo. So even HBO was divided on how to score the round.
I WHoleheartedly believe that Mayweather-Castillo I was just like Mosley-DLH II, where the fight looked differently live and up close than on camera. I think that Castillo got more rounds on TV, while up close and live I remember ringside observers saying that Mayweather deflected a ton of those shots, but the activity looks great on tv. When Ive scored it, I had it 7-5 Castillo if I remember correctly, and couldve went either way. whats great about this thread is that its irrelevant. Say whatever pathetic- self-depreciating, ridiculous comments you want about Floyd, but he gave Castilo an IMMEDIATE rematch. I can see if this would be a huge controversy if 1. the fight wasn't close, and 2. Floyd had avoided him. but he gave him an IMMEDIATE rematch for the world championship. Thats what a champion does.
I agree. In the rematch, the scores were actually closer than the first fight, even when that fight looked less competitive. Those fights are hard to judge.
Castillo won that fight. You can tell by Floyd's expression after the fight ended that he believed he'd lost.
