havnt seen much of duran at 135 only read about how good he was so couldnt predict with any kind of confidence, but hell, duran win but pac would cause problems and it wouldnt be as easy as some suggest! and i do also believe that old fighters seem to be put on a pedestal and active/ current fighters get a raw deal

I think it would start out rather competitive. Pacquiao has excellent mobility and for the early going his speed is a bit difficult to fully gauge. Throw in the southpaw stance and improved upperbody movement as well.

After a few rounds though, it becomes a mismatch frankly. Someone like Marquez, who has held Pac to virtual standstills both times they have met, does practically nothing better (or as good as) prime Duran.

Duran takes over fully after the first 3 or 4 rounds and stops it around the 8th I would say.

It's still is a bit of an unfair match-up to judge though. Pacquiao keeps getting better and his one fight at 135 isn't really enough to fully judge how he does at the weight, he could and probably will do more impressive things there. (not that I ever expect him to be good enough to pick over Duran, who in his prime was the best all-around fighter I've seen)

    Its really simple.

    1. There are many MANY latinos posting on this board.
    2. Pac beat many Mexican heroes.
    3. In order for those heroes to still look good, the Mexicans feel they have to back Pac.
    4. However, when compared to former latinos that Pac cannot actually meet irl. then they can all say "Pac is dead" without any danger.

    Simple.

I gotta go with a Duran stoppage.

Why is this donkey-**** question even being asked?

Nothing to do with a biased angle for the classic fighters; just watch how Duran fights at that weight, then factor in that Duran is a top-10 ATG lock, and also think about how much stronger Duran will be than Pac; this isn't weight-drained corpse DLH or shitbag paper champ David Diaz that Pac is fighting; Duran has very underrated defence; he would kill Pac at LW.

Pac beat DLH at WW; well done to him; I love the guy, and think that he is a brilliant fighter; but he is not going to defeat a prime Duran at LW.

Pac has yet to see a right hand like Duran ... Duran also has a good chin, great inside fighter, decent speed and movement ... Pac wouldn't last a full 12 rounds.

The fight we need to be talking about is Duran v Hatton ... that would be a war and an all out brawl.

It would be at least as much of a mismatch as Duran-Pacquiao, probably more so. Hatton forces an inside fight and would be going up against the best in-fighter in history.

    Duran was levels above Hatton.

Duran was the best 135 ever and one of the top two fighters I've ever seen.

    Duran by KO.

Duran beats him rather easily. It might be somewhat competitive for a round or two but after that Duran would take over and start getting inside. Pac cannot fight up close and Duran has all the tools to make him uncomfortable. He'd out-muscle and push him back, largely reducing Pac's power and effectiveness. He is no Ray Leonard and doesn't posses the skills to keep Duran at bay for a full 12 rounds, he'd be forced to fight on Duran's terms. Let's not forget how good Duran's chin and defence was, he was never hurt badly at 135lb's and I suspect he'd be bale to take Pac's shots (Especially considering Pac would be going backwards most of the fight). Duran also had a deceptively sneaky counter right hand, a punch Pac can be somewaht vulnerable to when he comes in flailing punches. To those who say Pac's speed who be to much, Duran handled Ray Leonards handspeed in the first fight comfortable, a fight that was fought very much up-close (much like the this match would).

Duran's body work and non-stop aggression eventually overwhelms Pac in about the 10th round.
