Nishioka is a very good opponent- Donaire's best since Montiel and probably 3rd best in his career so I give him full props if he wins this fight but provided he beats Nishioka who do you think Donaire should fight next?

For me it's Rigo without doubt, it's easily his most in demand fight and resume aside it's plain as day that Rigo is a p4p level talent and the biggest threat to Donaire under 126. I'm OK with Donaire choosing Nishioka for his next fight (even though he tried for the nearly shot smaller Arce originally) but if he jumps up to 126 or opts to fight anyone else next besides the man that's been calling him out and the man the fans want to see him against then criticism is deserved IMO. What say yall?

Please lets not make this another Donaire is ducking Rigo thread, at least Donaire's fighting a good fighter so give him a chance to fight Rigo next I say before claiming he's ducking.... This thread is about who he should fight next not about whether or not he should be fighting Rigo instead of Nishioka

Rigo. but im fine with nishioka for now.

he says he wants to be undisputed and win three titles. Mares is with GBP so there might be hope for a Rigo fight.

    **** forgot to include Moreno......

    my choices would be:

    1. Rigo
    2. Mares
    3. Moreno
    4. Salido at 126
    5. Gamboa at 126

Honestly there shouldn't be anyone else but Rigo if it's at 122.

But at 126, there's a lot of chellenges out there for him.

JuanMa, Salido, Gonzales, De Leon etc.

I like Donaire, but aside from Rigo, I believe his true merit as an ATG will be tested at 126.

Agreed at 126 he's actually be on even terms with a lot of guys going into a fight imo. I'd favour Gamboa by 70-30 if they fought, he's 50/50 with the likes of Salido, John, Garcia and I'd favour Donaire over Caballero, Ponce De Leon and proly everyone else.

I'd like to see him fight Rigo before moving up though, especially if it's moving up to fight someone who I didn't mention to test the waters....actually the only way I'd give him a pass for not fighting Rigo next is if he fought one of these guys: Gamboa, Salido, John, Mares, Moreno. I'd prefer Rigo to all those fight but those would be acceptable as next fights over Rigo....anyone else and it's a duck

John hasn't fought anyone of note in a long time, we can't really even tell if he's still top level at FW anymore with that kind of opposition

Would like to see a Gamboa matchup though. Gamboa is way bigger than Donaire- either Donaire is certain Gamboa will NOT stay in 126 or he's just that confident

Rigo needs a big W to force a Donaire fight because I'm not convinced he's even worthy since he hardly beat Cordoba. I'd love to see a Mares bout actually. Mares is underrated as **** on this board.

So long as Mares righted that sham in the rematch, which he did (when a lot of people were saying he wouldn't) makes him vindicated in my books.

Mares is a beast, very underated. A fight between him and Donaire is 50/50 imo. I would have no problem with Nonito facing him next instead of Rigo although I'd prefer Rigo as it's more of grudge match between 2 guys that don't like each other and who have been at each other in media for over a year now..... couldn't knock a Mares fight though, he's one of the only acceptable options if Rigo isn't next. If he hops to 126 and faces someone like PDL or Juanma or stays at 122 and fights anyone other than Rigo/Mares/Moreno next then **** Donaire.

Mares. The two have unfinished business stemming from their 118lb days in which supremacy was never established. And quite frankly, they stylistically would make for a much better scrap than Donaire-Rigondeaux.

All of the above, ideally. He may not win all of those fights, but he's got a great chance in each of them. If he cleaned house and moved up and cleaned up 126 as well, he'd be a certified star. People would be claiming he was Manny's heir apparent once again.

yes people want donaire to fight the winner of agbeko-mares (hich turned out to be mares after the rematch). after nishioka, if he wins, i would like to him to fight either mares, rigo or moreno. if those fights can't be made, i would love donaire to beat the crap out of morel, just a guilty pleasure.

So we're basically all in agrrement here: the only way Donaire gets a pass for not fighting Rigo next is if he fights one of these guys: Gamboa, Salido, John, Mares, Moreno. The ones that's worked their way up properly like Mares or even Moreno. These guys waited and didn't just come on the scene.Beat some bumz and believe they can call the shots like the Cube.
