Realistically, nobody @ 147 is gonna want to fight him. He may never fight at that weight again for the simple fact that guys there aren't gonna want none (mostly because Arum won't put them in there with Paul). So, the question becomes, does he go for one of the top-rated guys @ 154 or does he bottom feed @ 160? There isn't much depth at all @ 160 outside of Abe and Pavlik, and I don't think Sturm's people have the balls to put him in a title match with Paul. So, while Paul waits around for Pavlik or Abe (presumably), I can see Paul fighting someone like Santos, Forrest, the winner of Dzindziruk-Kirkland, or even fighting someone for the vacant 154 IBF strap. I think 154 is where he'll go for the immediate future.
tbh, i see him unifying 154lbs. and then going after pavlik or even abraham. i still wish that he can fight at 147lbs. but it seems a long shot now, add it to the fact that he's being avoided at that weight class. maybe mosley can fight him i dont know if calz would want any part of him. He's already retired anyway.
Not as much as beating Calzaghe. If Pavlik was still undefeated or beats Abraham it would as big. Calzaghe has not been inactive very long yet and he's undefeated. Plus, there's no question that he's far from shot. Also, beating a LHW would be huge. It's only been 5 months since Calzaghe fought and he has only fought twice a year for awhile now, so he's not inactive at all if they fought this year. Both guys can throw a 100+ punches a round, never get tired, have great chins, and are both very slick boxers with a lot of skill. It would make a great fight.
Should be Shane..... paul is probably going to wind up taking a stay busy fight Shane wont fight him pavlik is busy aa wont fight him straight away kirklands busy cotto will be busy if clottey beats cotto that might be able to happen
I would like to see him fight Mosley next at 154. Williams is a geniune freak of nature and i am getting on the band wagon slowly but surely. I would like to see him fight at 154 or above as 147 i think would weaken him over the long run.
Ring age and chronological age are two different things. Hopkins and Calzaghe are good examples of that. Fighters become shot at varying ages. Hopkins is 44 and top 3 in the world, while some fighters are shot by 30. Look at Vargas FFS! He's like 31 and slurs and ****. Hatton is just 30 and nearly shot, while Pac is prime at 30.
calzaghe is now a 175 fighter...dawson should be the one that would force calzaghe to unretire...williams must KO a legit 168 contender to even have the nerve to challenge calzaghe
