It's possible. They match up very evenly except Calzaghe being physically bigger. I think Williams might be the only one who could beat him. Calzaghe's one really big edge might his ability to adapt but I think Paul posesses this quality as well, just not like Calzaghe, yet.
Calzaghe tears Williams a new arsehole, PW fighting a naturally much bigger guy who matches him for workrate and has far more experience = doom, imo.
Since he seems to be interested in a Pavlik fight he should test his waters against another top 10 MW with more size in Sturm before he takes on the top 2.
That makes no sense. If Paul went up this soon he'd be coming back down in weight after the fight. He would not be staying at the weight and I don't see why he'd need to fight anyone at 168 first. Paul will fight anyone, he already said he fight Hopkins or Calzaghe. He would not be the first MW to do something like this. It's about what the biggest fight that can be made.
Paul does not want or need to waste time with contenders if he can get the champions and big names to fight him. The guy loves to fight.
There's limits to it, though. At the moment I'm getting the feeling people are about to say he'd beat Kessler.
Fair enough, i would like to see Williams's body mature to the weight rather than put the weight on, and have to lose it again if he cant find a fight at that weight whether he wins or loses. Williams is the future i think, and im a big Cotto fan but i have to finally admit i think Williams punishes Cotto.
Actually it's not. Chad is a great fighter but does not have the name recognition yet, while Paul really boosted his tonight. It's not Chad's fault. Once Chad goes to 168 he will really get his name out there, because there are basically no big fights for him at 175 except a Johnson rematch but that won't do a lot for him except with hard-core fans.
being that PW is winning many of these fights by blowout simply because he is much bigger and knows how to use his reach, i agree. i would love to see him fight another pressure fighter like james kirkland or even pavlik. i think PW and pavlik is a more marketable and better fight than pavlik abraham.
i love paul williams because i think he can make pretty much any fight from 147 to 168 a good fight. i would love to see him in there with any of the big names from 160 up. i just think he's too big for 147 and maybe even 154. its not very competitive. i could see a good fight made with cotto or mosley, but i would much rather see him tested with the bigger guys.
Pavlik is the most obvious choice. There's no point in him sinking down to WW. Unfortunately, though, it ain't gonna happen, as Moron is obviously a more juicy fight for Bob Arum, the fat shite
Winner of DZ-Kirkland, to have 154 p. best boxer. PW should fight real boxer who wants to fight, not reteried pensioner who came out for payday. If i want to see show i would better watch WWE, not another PW-WW.
