Trying to narrow down potential options I can’t really come up with many. Ortiz, Rivas, Kownacki, Pulev would all be decent enough. Can’t see the Whyte fight happening a) over there and b) on short notice. Andy Ruiz junior has got a fight this weekend so that’s a doubt and a poor fight anyway. A wildcard choice would be Zhilei Zhang, matchroom signed him recently and would be great exposure for the Chinese market - but I think they’ve signed him in the hope AJ will go over to China and fight.
I'd like to see him fight Miller so we can prove that Miller is absolutely terrified of AJ. He knew he stood no chance of beating AJ, that's why he cheated. He should be punished in a few rounds of total annihilation from AJ. If not, then either Ortiz or Pulev is fine by me. Nothing less than that.
Andy Ruiz Jr will make sense as he'll have been in training for Dimitrenko which he should get past comfortably so I say him. I'm sure Ortiz hurt his hand against Hammer last time out anyway.
It would be a **** a fight with anybody else... so yeah I'd like it to be Whyte but too many things required like build up and contract renegotiations Besides.. Whyte is always training in between fights so he is always doing something not sitting around.
Maybe Hearn will offer the fight to Hunter he’s just signed him and he’s taken short notice fights for Hearn before plus he’s American.
It has to be an American, so none of the above. Like mentioned, Ruiz Jr would be an option, after the Dimitrenko fight this weekend. Otherwise Hunter would be interesting.
Ortiz would be my first choice, biggest threat outside of Wilder, Fury, Whyte and Usyk. A convincing win over Ortiz would be a big statement after Wilder struggled with him and would finally see an end to all the BS about Joshua ducking him. Kownacki would be my 2nd choice, been on a decent run, unbeaten, will make Joshua look good as his defence is to block punches with his face. Pulev is my 3rd choice, he's the mandatory and his profile is pretty high after his notorious post fight assault after Dinu. Joshua gets to be the good guy, Pulev the bad guy, easy sell to gullible casual fans. Hunter Jr, is my 4th choice, he says he wants it, will bring it and go out on his shield even if he is horribly over matched here. Whyte is clearly not an option, he's already priced himself out and complained before about not having enough time to prepare, so he'll pass it. Plus this fight is bigger in the UK than the US.
Kownacki - American, has that similar uncanny stamina as his training partner.... Ortiz - Not American but well known in market there. Wilder's left overs but you cant have it all Hunter Rivas Ruiz Jr Arroeolftmao
AJ can't help Miller cheating so get an easier fight out the way - Think he wins by KO against all the above suggestions fairly comfortably If they could cancel the venue booking and schedule in UK would love to see Hughie Fury or Joe Joyce called up for a last minute challenge. At Joyce's age, I think he would take the opportunity at short notice as he doesn't appear to be near to any title shots and isn't getting any younger.
I'd like Pulev but i cant see him taking so soon after he has just fought and on short notice. I think by the sounds of Hearn's last interview Whyte vs Povetkin we be announced in the next week. Also unlikely to get Whyte to fight AJ after Whyte turned the fight down. I think marketing wise Hearn will go with either Ortiz and Kownacki. I'd prefer Hunter as I believe he is more skilled fighter and will be a tougher fight than them two however I don't think hes a big enough name.
