WBC terms state that you have 1 year between mandatories to face them or be stripped. It has already been over a year. The optional defenses do not count either.

    WORLD BOXING COUNCIL

    RULES AND REGULATIONS

    1.21 b (viii)

"The period of one (1) year stated in these Rules for a champion to make a mandatory defense may be extended by the Board of Governors upon their majority vote approval for extenuating circumstances..."

An injury is considered an extenuating circumstance. This courtesy has been extended to other champions in the past, most recently to the previous WBC champion.

They've already gone through this council once with the proposed Klitschko fight.

We are as of now 1 month and 10 days over the yearly mandate. I wouldn't be surprised to see We Be Corrupt give him another 3 months. That'll mean he'll have gone 1 year and 4 months without making a mandatory defense. Good job!

They should do the right thing and stop being instrumental in killing the heavyweight division.

Shannon Briggs shouldn't even be on that short list.

I agree & I voted for Virchis since he's the only one who hasn't had a title shot on that list. I'd still be happy with Tua or McCall though.

Toney shouldn't even be allowed to be fighting again at the moment, never mind for a world title.

McCall would be most logical, since he was promised a shot. He´s scheduled to fight Gomez soon though, so he might not be available.

I don´t really care, let´s just throw in any decent contender who wants it in there with Peter and let them fight. It´s better than these endless postponements and inactivity BS we´ve been having.

You're ****ing delushional. Wishful thinking on your part & nothing more. There has not been a single instance of Vitali fighting scared or "running" in the ring Floyd or Spinks..............

To be honest here, from what I have read, I think we are going to see Samuel Peter vs. Oliver McCall on October 6th....McCall has earned his shot and this has the potential to be a slugfest.
